I went back to Los Angeles after living in Poland for eight years and I honestly didn't recognize the city the way I remembered it.  Los Angeles was once home. But after spending eight years living in Poland, coming back to California gave me a completely different perspective.
In this video, I take a look at what stood out to me—from Los Angeles traffic and car culture to homelessness, public spaces, neighbourhoods, food, consumerism, crime, and the changing identity of the city.

Living in Poland changed the way I see America. In Poland, culture feels very tangible—you encounter history, architecture, religious traditions, regional food, monuments and national identity in everyday life. Coming back to Los Angeles, I found myself seeing American life differently. This is simply what I saw and felt when I returned after eight years away.
Los Angeles has changed. And so have I.
