It's kind of poetic to have Mahler's "symphony of death" in 2nd place and his "resurrection" symphony in 1st place

I flew back home to see Dallas play Mahler 2 and I could not stop crying once the 4th movement started

The 7th is my favorite and has been for nearly 60 years. Endlessly fascinating work - but it takes a conductor who truly believes in it and an orchestra that can pull it off.

One of my favorite things about Mahler is the wide variety of passionate disagreement in ranking his symphonies. He truly wrote something for everyone.

For me the slow movement of the 4th is one of the most beautiful and underrated slow movements in the whole repertoire.

I love the adagio from his 10 symphony❤️

I love the 8th but the 2nd is the only time I cried in a concert.

I heard Mahler more than 30 years. Untill now I understand his music.

this channel is criminally underrated

Small point: the Z in both Boulez and Berlioz is pronounced.

You should have included Cooke's version of the 10th. It is an astonishing work of scholarship and musicianship.

The opening movement of the 10th symphony was a breakthrough to modern harmonics.
While admiring his music and sense of drama immensely, modern composers are forced to be more compact and respect smaller budgets.
