I use a aloe vera water base mist, no buildup and it’s lightweight

As time has gone on I now use aloe Vera water I make from scratch and mix with rose water that I make by leaving overnight in warm water till the petal infuse into the water misting hair every morning after shower . I put the essential oils of lavender, rosemary and cedarwood into castor oil blended with jojoba , coconut, and rosehip oil and use this blend to seal in the aloe Vera/rosewater blend .
I wash my hair with a Lush shampoo bar or dr bronners bar and condition with home made rosemary water with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to get rid of build up . Once a month I retwist with homemade flaxseed gel which leaves hair soft and has a nice hold. I steam once a month or when needed. This is pretty simple no fuss way to allow my hair to do what it wants and to grow.

Rosemary water

Her hair is beautiful! Its neat without the retwist and not stiff. Yannie is amazing!

Hi Yannie.  I am a newbie and have 5 months into my journey. Can u pls tell me if you do the root maintenance by interlocking or crocheting.  I feel the interlocking shortens your locks. Cld u pls tell me or say something addressing this in one of your videos. Thank you and all the best to u and Jimmy❤️

I do not spray my hair with anything...however i massage my scalp and it tends to produce its own natural oils. I used oils on my scalp in the past and everytime it made my scalp flaky!

I spray water, add a little oil occasionally, and then seal it with aloe Vera gel to lock in the moisture.

I spray water and leave in conditioner on my locs and I done have a smell, my locs are super small and my hair doesn’t hold moisture well so I add the leave in conditioner with the water. I wash my locs like every 4 months or so, I don’t put oil because my face breaks out. It works for me 😊

I always heard that oil and water don't mix  😂🤣👀
FYI.....Happy New Years Everyone 🎉

I love rose water mist❤has been the best option

Different strokes for different folks. I mist my hair almost daily especially during summer, sometimes with bottled water, sometimes with my homemade herbal mist. This keeps my locs hydrated & refreshed. Whenever they're dry they just dont look their best. Styles dont even come out right. The only time I ever had an odor or smell was with my first freeform set & that was bc I had a bad habit of sleeping with wet hair on wash days. My locs were super thick & I refused to put heat on them so it took almost 10-12 hours for them to fully dry. This is my 2nd set & I havent noticed not 1 smell yet other than the trees I smoke 🤷‍♀️ & usually that dissipates within an hour or so. It all depends on your individual scalp. Water also helped my hair lock up quicker! The whole loc process depends on your hair frizzing up and compacting over & over again. Water helps the frizz compact quicker. Your hair is just like a plant. Water & sunshine goes a long way & is a necessity for its health. How often its needed is solely based upon the genetic make-up of that plant & the conditions it thrives in.

You can peal the leaf of aloes and blend the jelly, then strain it and use in your spray bottle

I use distilled water with jojoba and essentials oils and spritz about 3 times a day🙂. My hair and energy loves it.

I mix water and oil together

Is Rosemary water 💦  good for Locs

Is Rosemary 💦 water good for Locs🎉🎉

Thank you

Water is hydration. Misting the hair does wonders for health and growth.

man water and oil has helped me , different things work for other folks

Experience is the best teacher, ive been locd for 17 years and theseare my fourth set of locs that are now seven yrs old ans the one thing i did differently this time is wet my hair every morning, not washing it with sops or drenching it just, spraying it with warm and sometimes cool water on hot days and my hair is thicker, healthier and thriving so i  dont know why are telling people not to use water, natural hair loves water, it still locs, it wont not loc just bcaz of a bit of water bcaz our hair isnaturally dry, in an hour its dry again but looks better after spraying water like a plant that was watered in the morning, green, healthy, standing enjoying the sun. When you put water on your hair it looks much better, that is a fact
