I'm Filipino and lived in San Diego and San Francisco and now living on Social Security in the Phil.

Hi Daryl. The poor and homeless in America for the most part are people who once had a better life and live with the bitterness or regrets brought about by losing that existence. In the Philippines again for the most part the poor and homeless are living the only life they've ever known. This is one reason the wonderful people in the Philippines aren't walking around with a giant chip on their shoulders. They've learned to appreciate what they have where people in the US are always wishing they could go back to what they once had. To a degree i find myself in that situation because I lost everything because of someone else's greed. Now I'm living in my son's spare room saving every nickel for a new life in the Philippines. Great video as usual......Hoyt from Tennessee

Here are some facts from my 19 trips to the Philippines. Wife is there, can't get her back to my country. We have a 3 Bed house in a gated community in the Tarlac area for $225 a month.  The 2 Bd apartment by the beach (1 km) in La Union is $175 a month. Bills in total are $1300 a month. We do cook at home most of the time but can go out for food everyday if chosen. We also purchased 2 hectares in Bamban/New Clark City area and looking to build. 2 more years and I will be there. No gangs or drug crazed fools lurking around. Respect your neighbors and help them as they are very happy to help you. Just remember that you will never be a citizen, adapt and learn to smile as much as they do.

Well done!  Living in Bohol for 4 years now I have come to enjoy it immensely.  I visit Alona Beach in Panglao about 3-4 times a year.  I live in the province about 90 minutes by car from Panglao on the top of a mountain.  The beach is everywhere so I chose to be at elevation and it has produced breezes, wind, cooler temperatures, less rain and amazing views.  Also living on SS for my income.  Living well.  Very comfortable.  Eat well (we cook most of our own food).  And cannot spend all of my SS each month.  I really have to work on it to do that and most months I fail.  Your encouragement is valuable.  Thank you for your efforts.

I’ve lived here in Philippines for three years 🎉can’t imagine living anywhere else.
Cheers

This is one of the reasons why I now live in The Philippines!!!... I'm a Retired Commercial Plumber and US Army Disabled Veteran... I have my own home, I inherited it from my Dad who is Filipino and my Mom who is Spanish/ Puerto Rican... I'm from San Diego California, I visit my kids once a year or they come to visit in The Philippines... Life is Good!!!...
God is Good!!!...

Really love your positive attitude to life, great advice as always.

Always positive. Your perception of life there has my attention. Humble guy living his dream thinking outside the box.

Always enjoy your videos. I think many Americans are afraid of the unknown. A lot of us don’t get out of our comfort zones, so living/retiring abroad is something that would be overwhelming for most. I also think we are a very work
Centric culture. In other countries such as those in Europe, people get like a month if not more off a year for vacation time. In the US, you are lucky if you get two weeks.

I fortunately have been able to travel quite a bit internationally. You quickly learn it’s not scary and many people around the World know some English too, which makes it easier.

Greetings from Panama 🇵🇦 again. You are absolutely right. Like I mentioned before. Originally from Germany, I don’t understand retired people who are sitting in their countries after 45-55 years of work and need to apply for social assistance to pay the expensive rents. On top have to line up at the food banks! I’m sorry people. I worked my whole life hard. You won’t see me bagging for food! Even that I am 82% disabled, I am building myself a house in Panama. Well. Finished the floor topping in the second floor a couple of days ago. It looks like it was again a little too much for my body. I’m in bed and recover now 6 days already. Today I thought doing some cleaning up. Holy. I felt dizzy after 1 hour picking up things. Back in bed. Well. Even with these “episodes” I feel wonderful in Panama. No complaints. I only can advise other people to try it out somewhere else in the world. Don’t hide in your room and figure out how to pay the bills! There are many countries where you can have money left in the end of each month and still enjoy retirement ! 🎉

Thank you for sharing that spectacular video footage. It's amazing that in the Philippines it's affordable to either live near a beach or to visit one. There are so many nice beaches and mountains in the Philippines! Also greatly appreciate your words of wisdom. Here are some highlights:
"Another wonderful day in the Philippines!
I have gone from living below the poverty line, to upper middle class, for the cost of $700 (the cost of the plane ticket), what a bargain!
I'm not sitting there waiting for my next Social Security deposit so I can afford gas...
The highlight of my week is no longer waiting  for the winning lottery numbers...
In a 50 cent notebook I began listing my fears and insecurities that were holding me back...
Boredom is now optional...
For many of us the American Dream just ended up being a disaster...
Most fears about the Philippines are irrational...
I am no longer haunted by the What-Ifs...
Don't fear coming to the Philippines and finding out it wasn't for you...

- Thank you my friend, you won the lottery in Life!!!
👏👏👏👏

Reminds me so much of the three years that I was stationed in Hawaii. Would love to have that feeling back again. With retirement and VA disability in about three months this is a very real possibility now.

Great post. I have been here for 6 months. Left Australia for similar reasons and agree with what you have found here in the Philippines. I also agree with your philosophy on life

I like Bohol. May be a bit to quiet for me but I enjoyed my week there. The guy I hired to get from the airport to my hotel became our tour guide for the next day. He took us to the Chocolate Hills and the Tarsier’s. The Man Made Forest and other wonderful stops. Also stayed 4 days at the beach you’re at. Sunsets were magical, food was great but expensive.

Thanks for the best videos....so real and practical....Great Job....I retire in 3 yrs and am watching your videos and planning to retire in the Philippines on my average social security check...I will definitely be in contact with you for your guidance and friendship...Thank you again for helping me relieve my fears..

Just having the courage to reinvent your life and find a place where you can live with true dignity makes you a winner. Most people break down when they lose everything, but you chose to rise. Living a dream life now—walking by the ocean every day, feeling the sun, and enjoying the peace far from the city chaos—is your ultimate victory. You are an inspiration, brother

I’m so happy to see another video from you. Reading so much back and forth banter in your comments below is exactly the connection that is challenging to find  these days.

Good evening! You have wise thoughts and an approach to life! 👍

Beautiful beach, sea and sand art. So many restaurants too, very lucky to live there

Love the positivity! Stay blessed brother!
