In this video, I share the honest realities, obstacles, and lessons learned from my second season of farming habanero peppers at Leria Wellness Farm. While social media often highlights only the successful harvests, commercial vegetable farming comes with critical operational challenges that every grower must navigate.
What We Cover in This Video:
Labor & Team Management: Finding reliable team members, evaluating mindsets over paper qualifications, and setting effective farm workflows.
Land & Water Infrastructure: Dealing with uneven topography, drainage issues, borehole salinity, and securing reliable irrigation.
Integrated Pest & Disease Management: Step-by-step breakdown of our chemical rotation schedules, systemic vs. contact treatments, and organic pest repellents (neem oil, castile soap, essential oils, and companion trap crops).
Field Scouting & Early Detection: How regular scouting protocols prevent minor pest pressures from becoming full-field outbreaks.
Whether you're growing habanero peppers, sweet bell peppers, or general hot peppers and vegetables, these practical field insights will help you avoid costly mistakes and build a more resilient commercial farm.
