JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - The Constitutional Court will soon rule on the lawsuit against Gibran Rakabuming's education requirements filed by Denny Indrayana and his associates.
A number of facts and evidence have been presented by witnesses and experts during nearly a week of court proceedings at the Constitutional Court. However, the Constitutional Court refused to present Gibran at the hearing.
Although the Constitutional Court did not present Gibran, the petitioners are optimistic that the facts presented at the hearing are sufficient to prove that Gibran does not meet the education requirements for candidacy in the 2024 presidential election.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Dedek Prayudi, believes that Denny Indrayana and his associates' efforts at the Constitutional Court will be futile.
In addition to Gibran's diploma case at the Constitutional Court,
Community groups under the People's Alliance Sues and the organization Jawara Bela Umat Bela Rakyat (People's Defenders Alliance), or Pejabat, also plan to report Gibran to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) regarding the validity of Gibran's education documents.
Will this influence the final verdict?
We'll review this with M. Rullyandi, a constitutional law expert from Jayabaya University, and Feri Amsari, a constitutional law expert from Andalas University.
