It is always good to see someone do an honest restoration on a gun that was absolutely hammered by an incompetent idiot. Bringing it back to a respectable condition and reversing Bubba's "gun-smithing" feels good. Well done!

I’m 69 yrs old. 1968 I’m 12 yrs old dad started me off with a H&R Topper 30-30 cal. Living in S.E. New Mexico jackrabbits we’re plentiful. Dad said if you can hit a jackrabbit running you will be ready to hunt mule deer! Thanks for the memory trip!

A Topper 88 20 gauge with a modified choke was my first gun. I have carried that shotgun a long ways and taken a lot of game with it.

Really great outcome, looks great. Tru oil is the best finish I have found. It also works good as a filler if you lightly sand it while it’s tacky it will fill in the little holes on porous wood. If you can find it spray on tru oil as a finish and hang in an enclosed space with an old style 100watt light bulb gives a great smooth shinny finish.

I have one that I bought in the mid 90s . From Walmart. It was made by New England firearms. Mine has slightly different rear stock and forearm . I added a sling and a hammer extension . I also put a red/green dot on it . By using a barrel band mount . It helps with older failing eyes . It always have been a nice shot gun for being only $89. new .

I had an Old Topper like that but it was a 12ga.
I did similar repairs❤!
28' n barrel was horrible...

Easy fix tho. Elbow grease and blueing!
Nice job!

Making all guns look and perform as they should!

I used to buy guns and fix them up, when I was younger.
At gun shows.

When i stain a gun stock or forehand or gun form. I usually use an automotive clear coat to coat it and it will shine forever like a new one.
