"I know my name is Steven." With these words, a 14-year-old boy walked into the Ukiah police station in 1980, carrying with him a 5-year-old boy he had just saved from a terrible fate. Steven Stayner was returning home after spending seven years kidnapped by Kenneth Parnell, a hell of psychological manipulation, isolation, and constant abuse that shocked the entire nation.

But what seemed like a perfect happy ending and a national miracle became the beginning of a nightmare. In this episode of The Dark Chronicle, we dissect the shocking story of the Stayner family.
