I know many folks say "use isopropyl" but standard iso has oils in it that get left behind and interfere with adhesion. If you cannot use acetone, grain alcohol is an excellent degreaser and leaves no oils behind.

Instead of the rolled up shop towel try a Q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol to clean up inside those guide sleeves

I'm wanting to add (1) roller guide on my surf rod because the first part of the rod (2 piece rod) has no guides so I'd like to add 1 roller guide to the first part to give the line a little more stability once it leaves the spool to the first circle guide. My question is, is there a specific length I need to put the roller guide from the spool or to the guide on the 2 piece of the rod or is it just a preference of user?

How far should the rod tip be inserted into one of these tip tops? The balnk I'm using has a tip size of 14 and the appropriate sized roller guide only goes down a half inch before the blank becomes too thick.

What do you exactly do when air pressure pushes back the sleeve? E.g. full solid blank

What do you do to keep the tip top in place while the epoxy is setting up?

Does seaweed get stuck in there guides and affect the line release?

Not a fan of the Winthrop line? They are pricey but the rollers are shrouded so well. Have never had an issue with winding on the largest knots and wind on swivels.

Hi, I have a stupid question.... which way up do you mount an AFTCO swivel roller top.... logo to the top and the ring hanging below? And I guess that you have to centre between the swivel studs to get an equal swing side-to-side? Thanks, Bryan

I would never use hot glue for any rod building. It goes yellow & gross over time & the tip will eventually come off. Why not use epoxy resin/hardener 2 part glue for all tips? When I started at the fishing shop I manage, I got rid of that crappy hot glue at the rod mending station. Hot glue is for plebs. Yuk. Thanks for the vid
