The Sims 4 is now 10 years old. We've gotten confirmation that the highly anticipated 'Sims 5' is not currently in development, so we know that The Sims 4 will continue to be supported for at least a few more years. Let's take a look at where the base game is at, all of the improvements made over the years, and discuss some of the improvements that I think could be made in the future.

I remember Cassandra Goth being left at the altar like as soon as you loaded into the household in sims 2! That’s the kinda lore I was looking forward to seeing in the sims 4

Sims 4 going free to play made me realise how much of a demo the base game actually feels like in terms of content and gameplay

Absolutely wild that the general consensus on this game is that after a decade, 76 DLC sets and nearly $1200 it's FINALLY starting to feel like a full, complete game. It would take the Sims team very little money and effort to update the original lots and families with all the new features that have trickled back into the base game over the years. Like they've been doing with the more recent packs, they could have other simmers renovate the lots or do makeovers or adjust the lore. Or EA could just do it themselves but they wouldn't make money doing that so it likely won't happen. It's just laughable, there's less than 10 families total in the base game and not a single one could set up all the relationships, jobs and skills the way they're supposed to be

I’m from New Orleans, and I never realized that Willow Creek was supposed to be based off of the city, but it makes more sense now. It’s more reminiscent of the houses in the Uptown area (the more rich looking houses lol), except for the shotgun houses. Like you said, I wish there were more shotgun houses, and I also wish the shotgun houses were as colorful and antique as the actual shotgun houses we have here. The ones in the game are so gray and bland lol.

However, I did notice the steamboat that floats in the river! That’s the only thing I actually realized lmao

I actually do own (almost) every single pack 😅 the sims 4 is one of my main hobbies, i‘m certainly not rich but i‘m not a student anymore. I can buy myself packs if i want to. And my pc rarely runs into any issues nowadays. It used to be fairly broken but I don’t think the hate of the community is a representation of the state of the Sims 4

i've hardly had any big bugs or issues with the sims 4 over the years i've played, but i 100% get the "OK" message on loading screens like 50% of the time lmfao

Gameplay has improved recently. A couple of years ago I could barely get it to work. Lost my whole library in some glitch out...just gone😢. They've obviously been working on the game and I'm glad for that, wish it hadn't taken so long. Great video Liss, hope your holidays are going well❤

This was so interesting. I was the opposite. I was right there the moment it launched. I had recently discovered The Sims 3 and was in love with the franchise. I was in awe of the technical improvements and was having the most fun ever because I wasn't an experienced player at all and didn't know much about what it lacked but I was so impressed by the animations and how everything was smooth and it took one second to save the game. I was fully in love with the YouTube community of Sims 4 builders and creators and the simsie save. It was as the years went by when i slowly lost the interest for the game. The Star Wars pack was the final nail in the coffin for me. I did came back for Country Living and still think it's the best pack ever made for the game in terms of quality but also one of the last ones I tried out

I started playing the sims 4 when toddlers were added into the game. I'm just sad i missed the launch bundle with the Plumbob light up lamp. It plugged into the laptop or computer and it changed colour depending on your sims mood. SO ICONIC and I'm sad I missed it.

I think your forgetting that up until recently they just added things like hearing aids, vitiligo and more skintones to the game. The sims base game is very deplorable for a life simulation game... It doesn't even have weather. Up until recently most people couldn't even make themselves in the game without the help of the mods/cc. Sim4 modders are trying to help adding sliders, height and other essential into the game. I understand mods make the game buggy a bit but the majority of the issues come from the sims 4's coding . I brought wedding stories and it completely broke my game WITHOUT mods. The take that you would enjoy sims without your mods is a little silly cause without the mods Sims4 would be unrealistic,buggy, and boring all on its own.

I currently have no mods and never have, I only have 3 expansion packs. My garbage can glitched last night and then my dog disappeared into a rock and I tried to teleport her and… she just doesn’t exist anymore 😢 I can’t interact with her, she’s not dead, she’s not on my map. She’s just one with the stones in the neighborhood I guess
