This journey begins in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
In this castle town where the patriots of the late Edo period once roamed, I encountered the words left behind by Yoshida Shoin: "A parent's love surpasses a child's love for their parents."
With these words in my heart, I headed to Akiyoshidai, one of Japan's largest karst plateaus.
It was a place full of precious memories for me, a place I visited with my father and mother when I was a child.
