Secret services are one of the subjects that have generated the most pages of documentary or fiction, although the difference between the two fields is often difficult to notice. In the new series of Biomonographs, we will present a series of analyses on the general and particular history of some of these organizations, together with Izel Stănculescu-Selim, an expert in security policies. The first episode is dedicated to the beginnings of espionage and internal security services, from the Bible to the modern era, including spies from the Old Testament, Mongolian scouts, the Venetian security system, the special cabinets of England, France and Prussia or financial coups aided by timely information. Enjoy!
