Amsterdam, 1942. De Bijenkorf is still open. The windows light up on Dam Square, customers walk through the doors, and inside, the department store still seems to function as if the world outside has not completely changed.
But behind the glass, the company no longer belongs to itself.
De Bijenkorf was founded by a Jewish family and had grown into one of Amsterdam's most famous stores. Under the German occupation, all of this made everything vulnerable.

Shares were confiscated. Control was taken over. Names disappeared from offices. Then people disappeared from the shop floor.
