DEXTER: RESURRECTION, a continuation of DEXTER®: NEW BLOOD, takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan (Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right. But closure won’t come easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined—and that the only way out is together.

When you realize that Dexters warning to Batista in the car wasn’t a warning that he himself would kill him but a warning that he will most likely have the same fate as Laguerta and Doakes if he didn’t back off. His body language from the car scene to the vault scene you can tell he never had the intentions to kill Batista and I loved that he never held anything against him and still tried saving him in the end.

It’s crazy to imagine that Batista used to consider Dexter his best friend at one point which made this more tragic.

He was literally in the same place as Maria years later, should have taken the sign and enjoyed La Pension. His demise was sad but somehow expected.

When Angel says Maria told him in confidence, that's not true. Maria paraded him through the department, and publicly accused him of being the BHB, and Batistia even said Doakes was the BHB.

Even in death Maria is still trying to ruin Dexters life by accusing him of being BHB when everyone knows Doakes was always the BHB.

Dexter actually genuinely apologizing to Bautisa for everything hurts. He did deep down have love for his old friend.

29:31 Dexter showing true emotion like that shows how much he never wanted to harm his old team. Angel saw Dexter as more than a colleague, but as a friend at one point

Aside from his sister Jamie, Batista also has a daughter Auri, who'd probably be in her late teens-early 20s now, be more tragic when they learn about Angel's death.

I felt like Walter White in the Ozymandias episode trying to save Batista

Can we talk about how horrific Batista’s ending was? It was probably even worse than Maria’s, since he was kidnapped for around 12 hours, tied up in the Ice Truck Killer’s setup, and surrounded by a museum of evil. Even if he had survived, that experience would have been deeply traumatizing. The look in his eyes when he thought Dexter was going to kill him was pure terror — such a terrible fate.

The thing is, he cared about Angel. He was a good friend. Dexter did not want to kill Doakes even. I love the progression of Dexters character. No longer the cold-hearted stone-faced killer with a conscience....Harrison taught him more. To show this kind of emotion for ANYONE coming from Dexter shows how much he has evolved and changed. What a great show.

Love him. It’s kind of heartbreaking to see where their relationship is now when they were so close once (at least Batista thought they were) and Dexter did actually like Batista. that scream of dexter at the very end says it all

RIP ANGEL BATISTA aka la pasion🥲
