I once gave a Amishman a ride a down my parent's driveway that is about a 1/4 mile long, in a 1977 Triumph Spitfire. It was ceratinly a lot less than 1000 hp. The tires spun a little taking off. I wasn't going fast. The driveway was still gravel at that time. He got so scared about half way down the driveway that he grabbed my steering wheel, sending us towards a tree. I pulled back enough with him fighting me to graze the tree, but it totaled the car. Before we came to a stop I yelled, "Why did you grab my wheel?"". He quickly climbed out the window and ran faster than I have ever seen anyone run in my life. Work boots and all. Arm swinging above his head. By the time I ran to the end of the driveway, he was already down the road in his buggy. My parent's saw him as they were driving back to their house. They said his eyes were as big as saucers and they had never seen anyone so scared. The moral of the story: Never give an Amish a ride. Certainly not in the front seat. I was not happy about losing that Spitfire, but at least it's a funny story :-)
