My mom drinks every weekend. She is 75 and has never had breast cancer.  I have three drinks a year, and diagnosed with breast cancer at age 52.  I'm 135 pounds. She's over 200, never exercises.  Nothing makes sense to me. I've taken exceptional care of my health.  My stress levels are higher than hers.

I was not overweight, I never drink alcohol nor smoke. I was a busy mother and small business owner. I do not know any family or relative who had BC. I had BC. I was under tremendous stress before my diagnosis - emotionally, mentally and physically. Everyone may be different but that was me.

Sleep! There is a study on English nurses. The ones who worked a lot of night shifts had a higher risk of breast cancer.

Thankyou for the video, I never drank alcohol at all. and always been a slim build and fit and never smoked. Looking back I was very stressed from traumatic family issues I feel this contributed.  Ive learnt to look after myself now.  A different mindset has helped me greatly

My sister  has stage 4 Breast cancer as diagnosis with mets to lymph nodes, diabetes/stroke and later developed a rare form call Medullary thyroid cancer,she have just 2 years to live and she never been this scared to die, she just 37, i cry everyday wishing for a miracle to happen. i don't know why I'm saying this here. put me in your prayers.

Thank you Dr Liz. I’ve ruminated over all the bad habits and unhealthy lifestyle I had as a younger person.
I’ve been super healthy for many years now. Barely any alcohol, no smoking, strength training, healthy whole foods diet, cardio, dance etc etc. so it felt like a kick in the stomach being diagnosed at 43.
A relative whom is a bit woo woo and bonkers suggested all the trauma I’ve experienced in child and adulthood is why I have BC now. I wanted to punch them in the face.
I didn’t find that helpful.
I’ve done the hard work to heal and live a fulfilled and happy spiritually focused life.
Sometimes, these things just happen. Focusing on the why and the hovering over the past doesn’t help us.
Right now, I’m praying regularly and asking God and my angels to give me strength to fight this. And illl say I certainly feel stronger. Mindset is an important factor IMO.

A lot of people in the comments are saying stress or trauma can cause breast cancer. If it does, it is indirectly. Stress and trauma depress the immune system, and the immune system is very important when keeping cancer cells in check. Anything that depresses your immune system is going to increase cancer risk. So stress doesn't directly cause cancer, but it can depress immunity which can hurt your chances of suppressing cancer. It's never just one thing that causes cancer. Everything has to align for those cancer cells to go crazy and start multiplying. Blaming it on just one thing is just inaccurate.

Also, have a baby before age 30 and breast feed.

Thanks dr Liz, my case all my life I was in chronic stress

I never drink, i never smocked but i was stressed raising my kids by myself and i have bc.

I was just unlucky - half marathon running, vegan, teetotal, never smoked and no family history of bc. Still got triple positive bc in my 40s. However, because I was otherwise so healthy I felt I coped much better with the chemo and the surgery than I would have done - don't get me wrong - chemo was still pretty pants, but it could have been worse! I was carrying lot of burdens as a 33 year old, single woman, breadwinner with dependents and a high stressful corporate job. Diagnosed with hormone positive BC.

Dr.Liz, not only was I diagnosed with rare papillary subtype, which is also rarely seen in premenopausal woman like me.

I did start to swim again about 2/3 times a week and I feel much better after. Thanks for your videos Liz. 🙏
