What Really Happened to the Sovereign Colonies?

In the past we have discussed the sovereign colonies, their origins along with their rise and fall within the cosmic horror that is dead space. Previously I believed the sovereign colonies to be an expansion to the first earth government and they were the aggressors in the "secession war" however I was wrong.

So join me as we delve back into the story of the sovereign colonies, in this lore analysis we take another look at this factions origins, the history within the dead space universe and their sacrifice that led straight to their downfall and the rise of EarthGov.

Honestly the sovereign colonies were really interesting, the idea that humanity had already gone through a space Civil war was cool.

You've gotta hand it to the sovereign colonies gov. They were actively fighting a war with resource shortages and instead of pulling back this entire fleet and scrubbing the data they realized the threat and sacrificed a force they desperately needed to try and contain it. Not only that but the guy in charge actually going through with his order to systematically execute his own men and destroy his fleet. He didnt even try to leave himself. He blew his brains out for the cause. Even with that type of loyalty and determination he was probably dying inside having to carry it out. This was a great video I didnt know any of this.

Sovereign Colonies won 200 years of life for humanity. I still have mad respect for them and that giant sacrifice they went with to do that. I mean I thought that they were insane initially and thought that Mahad made huge mistake, but man, after thinking about it I was just amazed. There's no guarantee that Serrano would be able to do anything, most likely insane people would turn the machine 200 years earlier.

Its kind of funny, that in DS3, the beginning makes everyone think the general is some type of monster and villain, and that he had doomed them all and killed them then himself.

In reality, he was actually a hero. He did the hard duty given to him to a T, followed all his orders and then destroyed a threat buying humanity an extra 200 years of survival.

What I REALLY don't understand, is why they didn't just launch the markers into the suns? Like if your going to have an actual order to destroy everything, why did they go with burying the markers and not say, load them up into a ship and launch them into the sun? They made the things, nothing realistically can survive the thermal nuclear power of fusion of an active star.

Slight issue: The Sovereign Colonies weren't a separate body than EarthGov, they WERE the predecessor of EarthGov. That whole Secession War? It was the Secessionists manipulating the populace that was resource-stricken to riot against the Sovereign Colonies, with these Secessionists seeking to dissolve the Sovereign Colonies administration and replace it with a new Earth-centric regime.

My favourite portion of Dead Space 3 was exploring the wreckage of the SCAF warships & the ruins of their bases on Tau Volantis. I like seeing the differences in tech, it's like a screenshot of the past, since this was 200 years ago.

Funnily enough the Tau Volantis MASSIVE alien machine that put the planet under a seemingly eternal deep freeze might've actually been the truly miraculous, limitless power source or whatever was powering it.

Honestly makes a lot of sense. I'd always thought the Sovereign Colonies were a break-away faction similar to the Insurrectionists from Halo which made Mahar's line to Tim "Do you love the Earth, son?" seem weird because why would a rebel care about the Planet that oppresses him? But the SCAF being the actual functioning government of Earth fixes that entirely.

You have to applaud the general on volantis he was facing a desperate terrible problem and implemented a radical solution to the last man. He sacrificed the war to save humanity.

Great video again bro. I love the SCAF, they are cool. I wish they would have survived the Tau Volantis struggle against the Necromorphs before the events of Dead Space 1,2 and 3.

I'm amazed how ever SCAF command could conduct the Scenario 5. It needs extreme loyalty to Humanity and full understanding of Marker threat at least from senior officers. I know that hypnosis was used for lower personnel or just mass executions.

Edit: 0. Neat. Considering the brethren moon video he dropped a while ago, I was expecting 1 joke. If you wanna answer for some of the questions left hanging here i recommend the lore for sleep channel. Not 100% about the scripts as they kind feel AI-y, but the info is dope and ropes in psychology.
