Bream Diaries 5 - Wrong conditions, right result!

Duncan Charman Angling

In this video I head back to Badshot Lea Big Pond for the second time and although Im happy with my position on the lake, conditions aren't exactly great.

Working the swim in my usual manner eventually gets a result but even an organised angler like myself can get caught out at times, yet making mistakes is all part of becoming a better angler, well that's if you learn from them?

I agree with you Duncan, 4 birds going down on you is way to much to endure. 😜

Hi mate, Chris G here. I am struggling to be accurate over 10 wraps in a cross wind. I'm using 50gr mesh feeders, 8lb mono leader of around 20ft to 15lb braid, pound and three quarter TC Gray's prodigy rods. It's just in strongish cross winds I'm having a problem with. I'm quite happy hitting something about the size of a 2 snooker tables for bream but cannot get it right in the descriptions described. I am also loosing distance owing to the big loop you get in a crosswind. The reason I am using braid is because I cannot find a mono that does not twist after a few outings. And yes, I am loading it the correct way. The long leader is for a bit of a cushion under the rod tip when I'm netting a fish. Before I did this I was bumping one or two fish at the point of netting. A double three turn grinner with light braid and 8lb mono makes a very small knot and your tip about using a large float stop for your top stopper instead of a braid stop has worked a treat. It easerly glides over my mono/braid grinner knot.

Hi mate enjoying the bream diaries, can I ask have you ever fished the heli rig you use on a tip rod. Also how do you set your bobbins up, I believe some fish it mega tight.
Keep up the good job.
