Do you think developing higher emotional granularity could help? Instead of just calling it anger, be more specific, because "anger" is such a huge umbrella term for many different states, like frustration, indignance, annoyance, irritation, hunger (being "hangry"), being, furious or outraged, disappointment, emotional hurt, being alarmed in an active, protective way, energized assertivness/protectiveness - and also try to find the underlying goal of these feelings, usually to do with wanting to change (often with some force) a situation that we see as bad for ourself or others.
The Theory of Constructed Emotion suggests that the more precisely you can conceptualize your feelings (like the different shades of anger), the more skillfully you can navigate them, a skill that the brain builds over time with varied experiences and rich language.
I don't know. Sometimes when i meditate I use very broad lables on the emotions and thoughts, and then let go, and I feel that can be really helpful too (in my very beginner-like stage). "Aversion-thought, lustful thought, analyzing thought ..."
