Signal Chain: Bass - Hotone Britwind Amp (green channel) - DI out - Sonicake Sonic IR (8x10 bass cab IR) - Interface.

The strings are pretty light gauge, but don't flap about too much. However, it may be improved with a slightly heavier gauge or a higher-tension set. I quite like how these strings feel. I will try some flat wounds on this, but keep these strings in case I want to go back.

The hardware is perfectly fine. Everything works just as it should. I don't think there's any need to upgrade the bridge or tuners for the sake of improvement, but it's always fun to hod-rod an instrument like this if you don't mind spending more money.

The stock pickup is great! It sounds like a P-Bass! I am considering trying an affordable Alnico 5 pickup out of curiosity though.

You no longer have to take price into account when choosing an instrument. A very expensive bass is not always synonymous with quality

I love the sound of a pick on a bass. This video proves it to me. My first bass arriving tomorrow will be played with a rock and roll pick. Paul McCartney, Carol Kaye, Chris Squire - I love the sound those musicians make.

I play bass and my son picked up one of these and didn't want to put it down he's 10 years old and wants his first bass size wise it's perfect for him i gave it the once over and the quality seemed pretty good so was the price so he may have a surprise waiting for him Christmas morning

At 199 dollars, getting two, one to mod and one to leave stock is really feasible. You've got black--get the red

Got mine for 100 dollars with an amp. Upgrading the high mass fender bridge, bone nut, fender vintage pickup, pyramid strings and grover tuners for (200 dollars in total) makes this an incredible bass for my two year old son:)

I bought one from a guy who hated it and boy, was he wrong. I gave it a full service, replaced the horrible strings with good flats and fixed the truss rod nut that he'd stripped and sorted the intonation etc that was way out and now, its my main bass and I've got a bunch of expensive basses that stay at home these days. I'm 78 with 66 years of bass playing under my belt.

I just bought one! The pick ups are good! I can't believe it.
(I own American standard P and J basses)
This thing will probably see as much use as those. No joke.
At first I thought it would be a fun toy for playing while watching TV but it's more than that.
Don't sleep on these!

Wow, this is a GREAT video! I love the format — continuous playing throughout with tone, volume, pick, finger settings on the screen. And I think the text crawl throughout at the bottom is fantastic! If only more gear videos on YouTube used this format! What you played and how you played it is really well done and suits a demo very nicely. I have one of these models and agree wholeheartedly with your comments in the text. BRAVO, Rob.
