It's strange to think that more time has passed since Jumanji was released then the amount of time Alan spent trapped inside the game.

Wait. Someone talking about mental health while it not being an ad. You’re a real one for that Alex. Don’t get much of that anymore.

The boys in the intro weren't scared of the wolves bc that game had put them thru horrors unimaginable by mortals. That was nice foreshadowing to how scary the future events were gonna be.

I can't remember if the movie clearly states why the town is so rundown. But it's because the shoe factory was a major source of jobs. When the factory closed because Alan's father was lost to grief, other businesses followed. No jobs=equal no tax revenue=rundown, poor communities.

Fun fact: the actor playing the hunter is the same actor playing Alan's father, and hunter was chasing Alan in jumanji for 26 years, so we can actually think its kinda symbolic.

No one will see this, but—Robin Williams was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease with Lewey Body Dementia before his suicide. The disease is incredibly cruel, and Lewey Body means that he was suffering not only physically, but also battling intense hallucinations and psychosis. For Robin especially, I cannot imagine the pain and loss—worsened with the guarantee that his disease would worsen steadily until death (there are nearly zero effective treatments). I wish people would talk about Parkinson’s as much as they do mental health and suicide.

Hey Alex really appreciate the message at the start of the video I agree we should all check in on our friends and family mental health is so important but don't ever say you don't want your channel to just be you being goofy and saying gooch cause I personally love your reactions and they make me happy so keep up the great work brother ❤

39:18 Judy and Peter's parents died on that vacation to Canada in the future Sarah and Alan lived while playing Jumanji - that's why Alan and Sarah were freaking out.  By making the parents work early they were preventing their deaths.

Idk why but Alan’s “oh my god there they are..” to seeing the kids all those years later kinda makes me emotional for some reason. I just imagine him and Sarah talking about them every now and then. They probably fr missed them lol 😂

Also - the actor playing the hunter also played Alan’s dad. So that explains the “makes you feel just like a child” rhyme for when the hunter appeared.
Alan was being hunted by his dad for the last 26 years. 😩

My favorite scene in the whole movie is Peter running to get the ax out of the shed  only to find the shed locked so he picks up the ax and takes a couple of swings before remembering why he need to get in the shed to begin with

33:16 "How the fuck did they film this?" is exactly why practical effects will always trump CGI

Bro is going on side quests just to avoid Lord of the Rings at this point 🥀🥀🥀

It’s kind of implied with how frightened Alan is when he reads that the hunter is coming that Van Pelt was probably hunting him in Jumanji, also the line of makes you feel just like a child and him looking like his dad, both characters are played by the same actor, that Alan was kind of afraid of his dad

Editor was on point for this. The number of times the editing cracked me up was notable.

The whole “movie made by a boomer watched by a millennial edited by a zoomer” thing really works for some reason… 😂

18:38 I'm sure someone else already beat me to explaining it, but the Ringling Bros are a very famous historic traveling circus. There's even the Ringling Bros College or Art & Design down in Florida. Many of the professional artists I knew there graduated from Ringling and talked about how intense the courses were, and how people would be dismissed from classes and told not to come back if they weren't cut out for it. VERY prestigious art school. There also used to be a Ringling Bros clown college that shut down in the late 90s. So, Alan was essentially making a joke implying that he is not a lion tamer 😅

"how'd the film this?"
It's a wet set. Soundstage, build a big ass pool, then build the house set inside that. Fill the house with pumps and sprinklers for the rain and rising water, and the waterfall on the stairs. Then put a big ass dump tank upstairs for the flood down the stairs.

When he asked "What do I look like, a Ringling Brother?" is because the Ringling Brothers used to have a famous traveling circus - The Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus. I used to love going to their circus every year.

Jumanji was actually based off a children’s book! So was its sequel Zathura! The movies brought so much more to both concepts though (also fun fact, Zathura is a sequel because the idea is the board game wants to appeal to all kids, so if you aren’t into jungle adventures, flip the board over, and you play in space!)
