Nice car. Can't believe it will go 80mph on the highway with ease.

This guy's got more numbers in his head than I knew existed.

Beautiful car!  My first VW was a '79 Super Beetle convertible.  And 39 years later, I still have it.  It has just over 80k miles on it now.  They really were great cars.

Honest and down to earth review.

This car is a great example of a late model Beetle which were all over the streets when I was growing up in the 1970s/1980s..  A much more familiar sight to me than earlier model Beetles which had rusted away where I live.

Love your historical knowledge!

And very fun to drive

I still miss my metallic green 1976 Beetle.

I had a '75, and it started/ran extremely well. Yours is in flawless condition. Those Lemmerze wheels really set the car off. Much improved model from any that came before.

Back in the day I owned a 68 and then a 74 Sun Bug regular, not Super Beetle, I loved both of these, I have never loved a  car like I did these EVER ! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Car is perfect I would love to have it

My first car was a 1976 VW beetle!  Mine was green.  Thanks for the memories

Just picked up a 71 vert. Absolutely love it.

my first new car was a 1973 vw sports bug …it was a limited edition super beetle that came in two colors, metallic blue, or bright yellow…the had blacked out trim that was chrome on standard cars…bumpers, light bezzles, wipers, etc. recaro seats, custom fat steering wheel, deep dish 914 wheels ( similar to the ones on your car, but deeper. had beautiful wider parelli tires, anti sway bars…the base model’s price was $2600. this sports package added a whole $200 for all of these features, and i had to argue with my dad about why i should spend the extra money…
i loved this car and remember cruising it at 80 all day long…i could hit 90 pushing it , and im sure it could run flat out all day without problems.
i remember giving it to a family member after it sat for a few years, and after we got it started and drove it, it drove like a new car…when you shut the door, the car was so air tight, you could feel pressure in your ears…not a rattle or squeak after 10 hard years ..
thanks for sharing!

Cool car! In the 80's, we had a 71 Superbeetle with sunroof and AC. It needed a little work, which I did, including replacing the clutch by myself. It ran great. My girlfriend bought it from the original owner in Tucson. We sold it around 1985 shortly after my daughter was born. It was the right car at that time.

I had one just like this minus the A/C, so much fun to drive. Bug owners, preserve your cars!

Wow this brings back memories .Had a '73 super a'72 and a '65.

I still own my first car, which is a 76 Beetle vipergreen.

1974 I had the choice between new Beetle or Super Beetle... so glad I chose the classic Beetle.

Excellent review... Very thorough and informative 💯🔥
