In past versions of Johnny Storm, he seems to be there just for comedic relief. It was great seeing Johnny Storm being very intelligent, a problem solver, and a vital member of the team in this film. Good job by Joseph Quinn and the writers showing Johnny Storm being lighthearted but at the same time have a tone of seriousness throughout the film.

The best thing about this film is the whole retro-futuristic 60’s setting. It felt like The Jetsons came to life

To me, what really stands out in this film was the family dynamics. Without question Vanessa Kirby was the standout of a rather amazing cast.

One thing of note about Galactus is that when the Silver Surfer turns on him to help save Earth, he doesn't retaliate. He doesn't get mad or strip the Surfer of the powers he granted or go back and eat their planet as punishment or anything. He pretty much just considers the time served so far as fulfillment of their bargain and accepts that the Surfer was probably too noble of a person to expect to continue such a job indefinitely. Galactus himself hates that his existence is spent devouring entire planets (as seen by his desperation to get Franklin to replace him), so he also understands the Surfer hating the job. You can see the way his eyes change that it takes him by surprise (he took the Surfer's service for granted), but he still understands. So instead of retaliating against the Surfer he just tries to get more morally grey people when searching for replacement Heralds and lets the Surfer go do their own thing. Like the Surfer says in the beginning, "He is a force as essential as the stars." He's not evil, vindictive, or malicious. Dude legit just eats planets because he has no other dietary options.

I love that this version shows Ben as a beloved celebrity alongside the Fantastic Four, rather than just a rock monster. Ebon Moss Bacharach portrays him perfectly

I’ve waited a long time to see Galactus in the big screen, and First Steps did a… Fantastic! job adapting him lol

Reed says without doubt the price they were asked because none of their story has been met with prejudice or selfishness, since before their accident they do nothing but to give their lifes to their world, at least reed even as smart as he is he didn’t expect people could react like that

i think it’s to accentuate the difference between this earth and the one that hates mutants or that fears every super hero related event

Fun fact: during the early Silver Surfer scene, there was a shot of two men in their office watching out of their window, were Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the creators of the Fantastic Four.
Also: Natasha Lyonne’s character Rachel Rosman is a reference to Jack Kirby’s wife, Rosalyn "Roz" Goldstein. Which makes Roz and Ben’s pairing perfect since Thing is modeled after Jack Kirby.
It’s a funny coincidence that Vanessa’s last name is Kirby.

Lemme tell ya, the scene where Johnny was about to sacrifice himself for Franklin hit pretty close to home for me because I have a little baby grandnephew and while I might be the first to admit that he annoys the crap outta me, I'll also be the first to put myself in harm's way for him. There's also the fact that my grandnephew is also named Johnny.

The whole Galactus meeting and black hole chase scene got me stunned in theaters

“To me my Galactus” - Franklin Richards

In the comics, Galactus becomes Franklin’s herald. Galactus is actually afraid of Franklin

Glad i wasn’t the only one Sobbing at the theater.. everyone was so chill😂

Fun Fact, I got invited to the Fantastic Four First Steps Launch Event in Sydney a week before the film was released in cinemas and not only I got to see the first 20 minutes of the film but I got to see the cast of Fantastic Four in person 😄

@RyanSack-hp2es 10 months ago

21:24 That's exactly what happened in the original comic series throughout the 60's with Norrin Radd.

@saltytrey 6 months ago

Somehow I missed that the name of their space ship is Excelsior. It was Stan Lee's catchphrase and it means "ever upward". We miss you Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

I still can't believe that Ben grows his beard out, just like in the comics. I hope he keeps that beard for a while before he shaves it down

@HPReact 11 months ago

I would give this movie a 9 out of 10. It's even better the 2nd, 3rd and 4th time you see it. There are many reasons why, but this is one of Marvel's best films in a long time. And yes, you WILL see Dr, Doom in Avengers: DOOMsday. He IS the main villain in that one.

It just clicked for me where I have heard the baby seat sound before. It is the Steam achievement chime! 😊

Franklin’s comic book powers include the ability to create miniature universes complete with sentient populations. He did this in his bed when he couldn’t sleep… as a child.
