We're back again! Some musings, geekery and observations on the biggest live production in the world!
Some bits worth mentioning:
- Croatia's stunning entry:
-- where the singers walk down the catwalk with the lights as pillars, as if they're walking down a mysterious hallway
-- and the big reveal showing the floating singer (for some reason this didn't end up in my cut! But one worth watching and being in awe of)

One thing ORF got right was the new ARRI cameras. They looked stunning, especially when you could see the LED screen so more clearly and no pixels

the big reveal of croatia’s floating fifth singer, which they kept hidden until the moment itself, is one of my favorite shots of the year, brutally robbed of top five

whilst the production of this contest fell short in my opinion, the cameras, but especially the steadicams were easily the best i've ever seen in Eurovision, especially in Croatia's performance!

For me, Lithuania’s entire performance was so perfectly designed, and I have to applaud their use of electromagnets to hold up the black robe before cutting the power to the magnets to make it ”collapse” right on cue!

So excited to see what you point out in semi final 2 and the grand final!!

7:26 WHY, EVERYONE, literally EXPECT ME - is missing key part of Alicja's show?! Look at the lights and position at the beginning, with long shot (Lord why you givin' up on me). You can clearly see that for one brief of a moment she's in literally catherdal church.
When I saw this I gagged.

Seeing the 2D rig in action during the rehearsels I visited was something else. It did speed through the room crazy fast. It flew low over the catwalk for a lot of shots. Looks quite dangerous.

But I have to talk about something else too. The Alexas did an amasing job. I watched the final in a cinema and it was just freking amazing. But what do we get for keeping this memories alive? DVD! Can you belive it, just DVD. That's a shame. I already contacted ORF about this, but thy send me to EBU and I can't find a fiting contact there.

Can someone please tell me what the hype was about surrounding Linda Lampenius playing her violin "live" because I think that my definition of performing "live" seem to be something different than what happened.

For example (...and speaking of cameras,) we all watched that clip of Pete Parkkonen's performance and witnessed what happened during that 7 second window (after 5:02 of this video) where we can definitely hear the sound of Linda's violin even though we don't actually see her (or see her playing ...because she's not).
