The ancient records say that if you click 100 times on the dead horse at the beginning of the game, you unlock mew as a playable character…

Ok, the combustion myth was silly but we must admit that the idea of powerful offensive spells having a chance of making your limbs explode as you cast them is very much on brand when it comes to fear and hunger if not the dark fantasy genre in general.

how funny would that be if the one actually writing all the misinformation in the fandom wiki was miro himself disguised

For the heart attack, my theory is that they are thinking of the ghosts in the mines, who give you a heart attack if they hit you with Ruin three times. Ruin also damages mind, further leading me to believe this is the case

Mod idea: recreate the myths so they can happen in the game and then gaslight your viewers on stream. Perfect plan guaranteed.

Fake fact #21: Fear & Hunger fans actually played the games.

i remember when i first started playing and got into the temple of torment and it said there were "meat eating flies" i thought all the characters in my party would slowly die because i was losing hp.
1. my main character was the only one in the party.
2. he was poisoned.

Some people will stamp their feet and insist they are correct when you show them the literal source code of the game. We call these people "Fandom wiki users".

While I understand the logic, I still think the heart attack thing is people confusing the game for Darkest Dungeon. DD is infamous for being a difficult dungeon crawler with:
- a sanity mechanic (stress)
- permadeath
- turn based combat with an emphasis on exploiting weaknesses
- rng events that can make or break a run
- involves delving into a dungeon filled with eldritch beings
- has both torch and hunger mechanics
- has various semi-permanent debuffs characters can get (including specific phobias)
Obviously the games are not that similar if you've actually played both but I can see why at a cursory glance people would assume it has a similar mechanic.

I played F&H2 completely blind. Except for 2 times I asked the community discord about where to go when I got lost. BOTH TIMES THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG INFORMATION.

Another reason for the fear heart attack misconception could be that letting the hunger meter reach 100 does actually kill you so they probably assumed something equally bad would happen when mind reached 0

People liking the Girl in combat probably comes from a place of "She initially seems useless, but becomes much less useless once you dig deeper" when people first do a playthrough with her.

I remember reading the miasma description where it says that the weapon deals otherworldly damage.   You can imagine my surprise when I started a battle with a miner spectre and found myself dealing 0 damage...

for the longest time the fandom wiki had completely made up last names for marina and levi and a bunch of people just took it as fact even though marina would probably just have her dads last name, which is stated in the game. so interesting

today I learned penance armor DOES protect from peck

You can't fool me, Frapuccino

No matter what fandom, we are all joined in hatred of fandom wikis. good lord some of the stuff in those are so very wrong it makes me want to tear my hair out. literally the only damn website people will add stuff to and be like "source: crack pipe" and people will site it to you to try and say you're wrong about something.
one of the biggest ones i see across all kinds of fandoms is the fandom wiki "age" catagory being filled on... characters who dont have. any ages. stated... its just their headcanons.

During one of my early playthroughs of Fear and Hunger, I was terribly unlucky with items that increase my character's mind, and as a result, my mind dropped to zero, the character did not die and game over did not happen. But when I finally found an item that could increase mind... I simply could not use it... All the items in my inventory became impossible to use... Obviously it was a bug... But since then I thought that if your sanity drops to zero, then your character conditionally goes crazy, becomes unable to use any items from the inventory and simply dies a slow and painful death from hunger, bleeding or infection, if he is lucky enough not to stumble upon the local inhabitants... Truly a fate worthy of Fear and Hunger.

This is what happens in the modern age where people are diehard fans of things they haven't even played.
