Kieran, Justin, and Tony were given a golden opportunity riding off the back of James. The thing they never quite understood was people were there to see James not them.

it sucks to quit a job, but it also feels absolutely amazing to leave a shitty job.

It’s an anecdotal story, but I met James at an event and the screen wave guys were there. James was awesome and polite, seemed generally happy to meet everyone. The screen wave guys were loud and tried to interject themselves into conversations as most people were ignoring them over James. Now, that’s my experience and doesn’t paint the whole picture, and obviously doesn’t have anything to do with Joe he should or shouldn’t have been compensated for his work, but it does paint a little picture on how the cinemassacre/screen wave combination wasn’t quite working.

James has provided us with some of the most re-watchable content on youtube. He is a legend.

Remember when it was Angry Nintendo Nerd and Motherfucker Mike?

screenwave was the worst thing to happen to James' channel.

Mike is literally The Nerd and his anger and humor in the flesh. While James acts, Mike IS

I like how Kieran keeps saying he doesn't want to talk about it and wants to stay out of the spotlight, yet he kept talking about it and now has set up a Patreon...

I definitely prefer the days of Cinemassacre when it was just James & Mike, ever since the other dudes started being more active in their content I feel like the authenticity took a huge nose dive and turned into husk of what the channel used to be. People watch the channel for James & Mike, oh and Bootsy too! Miss that guy

They accuse Keiran of trying to steal rental reviews, when Tony essentially stole rental reviews and rebranded it Hack The Movies lmao

Interesting point in terms of the AVGN movie. Reminds me that a few years ago, a Capcom exec made a point that the Street Fighter movie, for all its criticism, still brings in about $500,000 a year from TV broadcasting rights (this might have even gone up with the rise of streaming and on-demand video).
Since they completely financed the movie, they still get the returns and at that point, it’s just free money.

I enjoy all things Red Cow and these videos about a YouTube channel I watched years ago are fascinating as someone who worked in the movie industry to see the similarities and differences in the mediums. Have seen first hand a major studio lock out a director and editor from the cutting room after a disastrous screening, have seen directors screaming at producers, actors hiding from the law, and that drama almost seems tame compared to this 😂

I could always tell when a boss or whatever was wanting to fire me. In that they'd give me special responsibilities that no one else had to do. Or they'd give me special rules to follow that no one else had to. And I'd not quit but stick around until they manned up and fired me for no reason or invented a reason. Everyone in high school would always say "This is just high school, wait until you get out into the real world." And then the real word is a lot like high school in a way, just with older people.

If they thought Kieran was an issue, then they suck for leaving him as the sole writer of the show.

I can’t wait for the Boxmac where Junt talks about how much he loves that his VPN allows him to watch Latvian Netflix and then gives us the promotional code as he creepily smiles into the camera.

This whole situation is not the same but reminds me of how Mike Michaud owns the nostalgia critic character legally

I'm genuinely surprised that screenwave didn't lock Kieran into a NDA

First time viewer. Awesome video!

Frankie definitely has spent time around english people , hearing an american say slagging him off made my day.

Those Batman episodes where from 2009? I think. I vaguely remember it being a four week gap between the first part and the second around the time he was still doing two episodes a month. I also remember the wait between episodes feeling like the longest time ever. Now it's a miracle if I finish watching one of the new episodes.
