I’m glad you finished the review like you did because for a while I thought you were going to complete rubbish it… Toby is what it is and I personally love them, yeah the food isn’t necessarily 5 star but it’s great value and it means lots of families can get together and have a decent fulfilling Sunday roast or a breakfast for an affordable price. Tobys Yorkshires could be better I’ll admit but again they’re part of the experience. I do find some Tobys better than others but they’re generally always packed and they can be a bit slow but I think that’s because they’re quite often understaffed but in general the staff do their best and are usually very friendly.

P.S when you do your blind taste tests can you please make sure you take turns after each dish to describe your thoughts on the dish as sometimes it comes across as you both just giving the same opinion.

Saying all of that , The channel is very entertaining and informative and a very enjoyable watch.  Keep up the good work 👍

I’m glad you mentioned you would go back. Breakfast or even a roast in tobys I think is a British staple. Warm food, to eat indoors and always served by lovely staff. If you think of it as one of the first restaurants it’s great value for money. It’s my guilty pleasure and treat so I really prefer this over the likes of having a McDonalds and I’ve been to enough fine dining, London scene spots to appreciate the basics. Even just a refillable coffee puts the likes of other cafes to shame and I’ve been to far too many. I think it may be nostalgic to most who went there growing up. You should go for the roast. My local one is lovely where you go for just a chit chat and catch up with the staff, great when they tell you they just brought fresh items out.

love watching you,and the lovely hannah, rena, and sid, hope i’ve spelled the names right,i’m 75 now,and can’t get out on my own,so love watching all your home, and the out n about ones……. I DONT watch master chef now greg just not the same without you,if it get cancelled it serves them right! love n hugs to you all keep the videos coming their GREAT!!!!! polly from wigan 👍💕

Beef dripping for yorkies. Amen. Hi from North Yorkshire.

If you've not tried it yet, Wetherspoons breakfast is hard to beat in my opinion for quality and value. The black pudding they serve really is a treat, best I have had in England. Great video guys, please keep it up.

Great review, love your vids, I emigrated away from the UK and love to see reviews like this.

I had a brekkie there a few years ago, wasn't too bad to be fair!

My friends 12yr old son ate 21 sausages as a challenge from his twin brother, as we left he deposited said sausages all over the car park floor!

Also, those scrambled eggs with bacon was a bacon hash I believe, small diced spuds fried with lardons :)

Hi nice to see Gregg with his lovely mother in law i thought toby carvery i went to wasnt great the service took forever my mains arrived before the starter and we were informed they had run out of lemon with a prawn cocktail

Nice review Rena & Gregg - You get what you pay for, and you also get to go around again once you have established the bits that you like. The Yorkshire pudding was probably a left over (but waste not want not). Clean and hopefully warm, with a nice relaxed atmosphere, and a bloody good price. This weekend I visited Borough Market for the 1st time and paid £13 for a bowl of beef and rice (very nice), and sat on a bench.
Breaking it down, how do they manage to do it for the price? Good idea to go back for the Sunday Lunch or maybe a quiet midweek carvery so its perhaps not too busy.
Cheers Dave

You'd probably feel more satisfied in Spoons.

Love you both. Brilliant channel!

thankyou for your review, its helpfull to know these things beforhand.im an official 'swampy',so i know youve gone local to you.many thanks greg

Great prices to go back again and double up on the ones you like

Should get together with Michael Barrymore , he's always cooking.

Back in the day Toby Carvery was great in the winter months

The meat, the veg were so good
Parsnips roasted onions roast potatoes cauliflower cheese and puddings

By the 00’s it started to decline
I have none local to me know

A good concept but unfortunately sits there for too long….

You need to review a spoons breakfast

From your scoring master chef days I bet the staff were worried when you walked in to their breakfast buffet 😂😂

Now I know what that flattish thing (deflated pudding) was that I ate there last time, it was the Yorkshire pudding, I thought it was an omelette!
To be fair, for the price it wasn’t bad, I would have liked a choice of eggs because for some reason I can’t tolerate whole eggs but mixed are okay.
Overall, you get what you pay for and it was worth the money.

Looks better than my local Toby in Newton Abbot.

For your average Joe you can't get better for the money imo....great value...sorts me out for the day.... It's always going to depend when you go too, as if they are sitting on the hotplates for a while some of it will overcook
