Of course, with the Grab app, you can use it for food delivery, as well. Many smaller restaurants in the area and even stalls participate, so if you are wiped out from a long travel period, you can order something local if you are brave enough to try it. Back to the question of alcohol, many chain shops and convenience stores do sell them (but not all; notably, the Family Mart chain has abolished the sale of alcohol since last year, so you won't find any there; many 7-Elevens and KK Marts do sell them, as well as most big supermarkets and grocery chains like 99 Speedmart which is pretty much everywhere).
Interestingly, one of the lingering legacies of British rule is that we love baked beans for some reason and you can find baked beans in tomato sauce in tins pretty much in every grocery store. Another thing of note is that Malaysia uses exactly the same power sockets and plugs as the British ones, so if you happen to be from the UK or Ireland and you absolutely can't live without your favorite toaster, feel free to bring it. Another somewhat useless trivia about Malaysia is that it is the only federal state in Southeast Asia; the closest countries with federal systems to Malaysia are Australia and India.
