Dear young people,

You do not have 16 friends. You have 2 (maybe 3) friends, 10 - 12 associates, and 2 haters.

With peace and love,
An old lady. 😊

Here's a bit of advice to the first young woman: no one cares about your birthday as much as you do. Turning 30 does not warrant a big trip. If you want to take a trip for your birthday, take it alone or with one good friend.

First story: Instead of cancelling the entire trip, I would just go with the people that paid for the flights. Book smaller and cheaper airbnb, take them to dinner and just chill

In the first story, I'd say that people might have felt blindsided by the additional expenses. A decorator, a custom cake, a caterer... all of that costs money and unless people know about it beforehand, you shouldn't expect them to pay, not everyone is able to. A weekend trip doesn't automatically mean this level of expenses, it can mean just hanging at the beach, playing board games, sipping wine, etc.

1st story: $250 for the ABNB food/drinks. The activities were an additional expense. Plus going out to eat. Add plane tickets and rental car on that. In addition to any babysitting/pet sitting costs. I can see this trip easily costing her guests over $1,000. Most people can't do it.

Sooo, that last woman was commiting sexual assault against the lash tech. That's so disgusting. If a dude started doing this in front of a woman this would not even be a question of whether or not he needs to be arrested.

This first story… it’s so exhausting. I’m sure everyone would have turned up for a lovely dinner - a single day of fun at a spa. A whole trip? Goodness

@stacy-annjones259 1 year ago

For the last woman, that is sexual assault in the U.S. and you could have reported it to the police...

I understand having a kink where you want someone that is NOT your SO to watch. But *EVERYONE* needs to consent to that. Otherwise that is a crime

29:52 That is ASSAULT. That is literally SA. You call the police. This girl probably had a fawn response, I hope she's doing okay

It always feels awkward when someone with money suggests a trip or an outing and invites you but then expects you to cover a significant amount of costs. I once had a situation where a girl I knew—not even a close friend—invited me to her birthday. Instead of a simple party, it was a small trip where I’d have to pay for the hotel, all the meals, and activities like skydiving or a hot air balloon ride. The total would’ve been nearly $1,000 for a two-day trip, and that’s not even including a gift for her. I had to decline—it was just too much.

The husband knew she was at that appointment. That event was 100%
S/A.

25:10 I think she made a big deal of it so she could get cash back instead of being refunded on the app. She basically got a free cash advance on her credit card even if it was a measly $10. Not gonna let her scan the app, had an isssue with the gift card, but oh suddenly you don't need her to say anything at all once cash is offered

@namebrandkids2558 1 year ago

That woman should've been charged with public indecency! Or sexual harassment! That is fucking wild! And sooooooo gross!

@Marina-Arena 1 year ago

Omg, you had 16 people RSVP?! I don't even KNOW 16 people. 😂

@Ana_Luna026 1 year ago

First story: as someone that is roughly a year and a half sober, I’ll still celebrate milestones (birthday, wedding, etc.) with my friends. I just won’t drink. Do I sometimes feel like an outcast only drinking water or something? Yeah. But I also have some amazing people in my life that speak up for me if someone offers me a drink. And hearing my friends proudly say “they’re sober” makes me happier than anything in the world.

My mom went on a girl's trip and i believe everyone was paying for themselves until a waiter chased them out of a restaurant saying they hadn't left a tip. But they had been leaving tips for everything.

And that's when they found out the one girl that was basically a friend of a friend on the trip had been stealing their tips to pay for herself.

$5000 is 6 months' rent for me. Bonkers to spend that on a birthday weekend.

For the first story: if we had seen this as a list on Reddit from one of her friends, she would’ve looked super entitled. It started out as a hangout at an AirBnB, but she added catering, stocking food, experiences, a cake, a decorator to friends who live out of state, and kinda seemingly without warning.
