I don’t know how they spent 8 years making this game but I have seen all the cutscenes in like less than a month

Ok ok I hear you but here’s my counterpoint
No

I like the game but I agree that there's a ton of room for improvement. I hope the game starts getting bigger updates soon that add more cutscenes, bring back makeup from miitopia, etc.

I feel like New Horizons syndrome should be a phrase for Nintendo games that prioritise customization over stuff to do in the game.

The bad parts are the removal of the features and everyone is too nice.

I played it for a few days after buying a switch. I realized on like the second day: "this is all that you do?"

My fear of it being the New Horizons of Tomodachi came true

2:25 Guess what? These ALSO happens to every Mii regardless of what Personality you pick. In fact I see the "counterpoint" thing WAY more often than I see people actually apologize to each other. That's how common stuff like what supposedly "Considerate" Miis being straight up rude to each other is. Their Personalities don't even decide how often they'll fix their problems or if the "counterpoint" thing will show up for them.

this game was fun but after making like 20 mii’s it gets boring

No, for the 10th time, I do NOT want to play Mii shadow quiz with you. Please stop asking

The game had so much potential.. like at least let us raise the babies again

I remember someone who made a self aware mii named nobodii and she thought the game was ass too

Personally, when all the criticism was getting thrown just after the release, I held onto my optimism because it could still be updated. However, three months after and no signs of updates except bug fixes I've just lost hope. I think this is it, I think the seasonal items you get are supposed to hold you over but if you've played the game so much unlocked everything and are now stockpiling wishes, you can unlock all the seasonal things the second they come out. I've seen so many fun ideas like rainy days, something the miis will comment on in game, and they're just not there it's like... Why?

The most infuriating thing in my opinion is the omission of the concert hall because they have the singing code in the game. Sometimes your miis will sing the tunes of those songs, the songs are on the radio in the cafe and those jam sessions your miis can do they can't even sing the lyrics because I'm guessing they couldn't be bothered? I don't know, it just rubs me the wrong way that these hard coded cutscenes in the game just can't be sung.

I’m Canadian, so the price of the game was 80$ and I find that WAY TOO MUCH for a game that’s only fun for a few hours

I don't think it's a bad game, but yeah it's very watered down compared to the 3ds version. I was hoping the miis would have more personality, more mini games, more events, maybe buildings and less repetition. I didn't expect them to significantly tone down fights, romance, events, and remove interactions with babies, the miis forming relationships on their own and the ability to copy other peoples' miis or drawings. Part of the reason I stopped playing after about a month was because my miis weren't doing much.

400+ hours player here! They NEED to fix the new irritated/upset system. I feel like it wasn’t programmed correctly, due to its abnormal frequency. For example, a mii can cheer another, who’s upset, up and then, after conversing with them, it comes RIGHT back. On top of that, the game is inconsiderate of your time—relationships dropping down as if you’ve been gone for weeks, when it’s really been an hour or two. But honestly? It could be the fast pacing in general.

Another thing I want to point out; it pisses me off how you can’t add as many miis to your island as in the original. In the original you could add 100 miis, but now you can only add 70. 😭😭😭

Looking back at Tomodachi Life Living the Dream post honeymoon-phase (You know when literally EVERYONE was playing it and posting their shit onto social media), it really does feel like they prioritized too much on the customization and random interactions over substance for the game, which does limit the game's replayable outside of an occasional 30 minute check-up (Which is how I was basically playing the game for months). Sure you have the essential features like the shops, mii news, donation fountain, and all that stuff, but it also lacks any additional quirky things you can do apart from just having to manually make your Miis interact. I get that they can't include everything especially given their focus on you being able to customize your island instead of working with a pre-built one like in Tomodachi Collections and Tomodachi life, but the fact that what remains is either barebones or reliant on custom prompts and treasures really doesn't give you much interactive material minus "Oh hey your mii said the thing you told them to say."

This is coming from someone who spent fucking hours on the original 3DS game back in the day and even put in a good chunk of hours Tomodachi Collections back when you needed to offload an emulator onto your iPhone. They just had a lot more charming details and events that gave you a reason to check the game out at certain points throughout the day compared to Living the Dream where honestly you can just visit once per day and you'll barely miss anything minus a black market deal. Shoutout to when wood headed people were the stand-in workers if your Mii wasn't randomly selected to be working there. 🗣

the customization is not the problem but the fact that they relied on it to not do anything 🫩 like there's so much in the game that they just...make you do yourself 😭

I’ll be waiting for the 50$ DLC next year
