He’s literally the man every woman hopes to end up with 💗: Humble, kind, dignified, respectful, hardworking, generous, faithful, loving and devoted, strong but soft, selfless, compassionate, courageous, prudent, responsible, honest, wise, loyal, simple, intelligent, thoughtful, Pius, gentle, constant, romantic and all around amazing. Dude, I can go on and on. Gabriel Oak is literally the unicorn of men.

Gabriel: "If I knew you...that you would let me love you and marry you..."
Bathsheba: "But you'll never know..."
Gabriel: "Why not"?
Bathseba: "Because you... never ask...Ask me..."
Next moment: Gabriel reaches for her, pulls her into his arms and presses his lips to hers. What a long awaited moment...His sweet aching words now a memory: "Let me love you and marry you..." Oh Gabriel, a girl can dream...of a man like you...

I love how subtly he "tames" her. She goes to him, she chases him.

My dear husband is my own Farmer Oak.  I do not deserve him and the book always reminds me of the blessing he is.

what i love about Gabriel Oak is that he doesn't force a woman to succumb to him,,, he waits patiently till she naturally puts her guard down which is why Bathsheba always felt safe with him.

waiting for my Gabriel <3

When a Woman Builds Herself

Only a man who knows how to read the depth of a noble and powerful soul will be capable of waiting without pressure. Only he will understand that opening up is not surrender, but a far greater act of courage than resistance. Because when she—by her own will, not out of need—allows herself to love, she doesn’t love halfway. She opens completely and loves with the same intensity that once helped her survive.

i never thought anyone could play gabriel oak as good as alan bates in 60s version , but  matthias schoenaerts has nailed it for me.i love thomas hardy novels and most novels have been made into films one being Tess of the Derbervilles, Hardy had some terrific charactors in his books, and the films have donevthem justice.

Gabriel Oak and Atticus Finch are my favorite men from novels.

I really fall in love with the movie 😍😍 the chemistry between Mr.Oak and Bathseba 😍😍

ah, the entire movie in  5 minutes! great edit. BUT don't watch this if you don't want to be spoiled!

I waited for the best line in the book... "when I look up there you be and when you look up there will I be" but it wasnt there...

This was so well made. Great choice of music, scenes, colouring, voice overs... really well done!

This was beautifully edited! Love this adaptation so much - it's all there in the lingering eye contact, the unspoken moments between them. Amazing film x

Matthias is amazing!!! You can fall into his eyes lose yourself and never come back!!!

Literally, I have watched this film 5 times this past week. Love it!

I love the novel, it's one of my favorites. And this is my favorite adaptation! Beautiful tribute!

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 KJV

I love this movie. I love it more that I only need to watch this
to catch all the parts I really want to see.
