Curry not getting the finals MVP in 2015 was blasphemy

Perfect timing. I fall asleep listening to your longer videos sometimes

2 and a half hour Jonny Arnett video ? Let’s go !!! Thanks again my fellow Johnny/ Jonny from one Jonny to another I appreciate the work

Even though the competitive balance was ruined in this decade, I'll be honest the first 5 years of the 2010s were the last few good years. From an on the court gameplay point of view, it's way better than what we see today.

Dope video …. I loved the 2010s almost as much as the 2000s

2010-2015 was an amazing era of basketball

Derrick Rose, Tmac, Brandon Roy, ...etc Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway.... all couldve been even more legendary barring their injuries.

As a 31 year old bulls fan. It don't get better than prime d rose.

Thank you for always dropping great content, sending love from New Zealand!

you’re the goat Jonny never forget that

Awesome video, Jonny!! I appreciate your deep dive into the 2010s. :) I didn't think about it, but you're right that the decade had a ton of stories. Just to name a few, there was the 3 point revolution, The Decision, KD going to the Warriors, and more. It definitely also felt like a transition too for a different type of basketball. It's not my favorite type of basketball, but I still enjoy it and I love what you said about Steph Curry and his legacy. He definitely changed the game, and he is one of the best point guards of all time (top 2 IMO and I respect those who put him above Magic). I also really like the nuanced and balanced takes you have on the legacy of several players, like Kevin Love, Chris Bosh, Dwight Howard, and more. It can be be so easy to overlook them, especially when some are known for support roles (and when stats, as they often do, tell a more limited story when just mentioned alone). I like how you remind us of the feats and how great these players were while also providing much context.

LOL "Mr. 2nd" is a hilarious nickname, but it is accurate for Durant. He's great and also one of the best small forwards of all time, but I don't see his legacy changing. I think those rumors about his tweets just further cemented the negative reputation that he has. And, I don't think he'll have enough time to change his reputation.

Great points about LeBron. He's one of the best who has ever played and it's incredible how he's been to so many NBA Finals and led some not so great teams to the finals too (and has won several). You brought up some good what if scenarios too. Honestly, I don't think I would've been mad if he went to NY and I think it would've been better for his reputation too. Staying in Cleveland would've helped too (and you brought up some great alternate history), but I understand why he left (though, as with others, I think The Decision was in poor taste).

I'm a Kings fan, but I agree with you about the Chris Paul trade... The NBA shouldn't have nixed it. I honestly think that it is likely that Kobe wouldn't have gotten hurt if it went through. Kobe would have way less of a burden to carry and wouldn't have pushed himself so hard.

Awesome compilation again. It was nice listening to it while taking time to chill tonight. Great work, Jonny. Have a nice week, and I hope you, your wife, and your daughter feel all better soon. Take care. God bless :).

1:51:23 fun fact; my dad(a life long 76ers fan) and I were talking at the end of January 2022 about Harden being graded to the sixers and he said to me 'that'd happen over my dead body!' My dad passed away February 2nd and Harden was traded to the sixers on the 10th....

Rip Kobe

39:00 as a Laker fan going on 36 years now it’s not that we needed a Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant like player. Magic Johnson wasn’t that kind of player and we love Magic Johnson.

If you remembered what happened no we weren’t happy about him coming, but it wasn’t anything to do with play style and everything to do with how disrespectful his media team is too legends and we watched this guy have to stack the deck in a weak conference to get championships now he’s coming to the west. We’ve got a Young core and we know what’s about ready to happen and that’s what happened.

But when Kobe Bryant did that interview, almost immediately after LeBron signed to the team Kobe Bryant asked us to accept LeBron. He explained that LeBron James is our best shot to winning more championships and that we needed to win more championships and because he asked us a lot of of us did accept him even I eased up on LeBron and I even celebrated the 2020 championship. I still have all my social media post thanking LeBron James.   But then when all of his Klutch sports minions in a two week period every one of them out of the blue unprovoked just started attacking Kobe Bryant’s legacy to make LeBron look good and there have been people in the media, journalist with more than three decades of covering the NBA under their belt saying that they’re blatantly disrespecting Kobe Bryant to make LeBron look better……. As a man, I don’t think that’s how men act you don’t pay another man to lie about another man to make yourself look better. That’s what a little girl does, but how dare you stand in that purple and gold uniform after you pointed to the heavens in the middle of staple center and ask Kobe Bryant for the energy to complete the mission only to turn around and have your minions attack his legacy every other month since that’s why we hate him we were with him. We were really with him when he won that championship because that was right after Kobe Bryant died and when LeBron said we were going to win one for Kobe, we believed him and we cheered him on, and he flushed it all the way when he sent his media team after his legacy.  If someone wants to wrinkled LeBron over Kobe Bryant in their top 10 that’s fine but when you’ve got people like Nick Wright and Shannon Sharpe telling lies that are easily disproven and you know it’s to make LeBron look better at this point we don’t even care if they do a drive-by on Bron’s mansion f him.

you said 2 reasons for people not to include Bosh in a big 3.

You forgot Bosh haters and people trying to make the Heat team look weaker than it was to help Lebron’s legacy

Respectfully I disagree with the notion that the losing finals team should receive any award. You are awarding losing. I dont care if Lebron averaged 60 10 and 10. It is disrespectful to not award the champion team with the finals MVP. That award very obviously shouldve went to Steph Curry.

Wolves win

What they would call a combo guard back then in 2000s is just every star guard today

31:00 I don’t think you can paint it anyway other than what it is the rating started dropping in when LeBron went to Miami and every season after that it’s gotten worse and worse and I’m not going to say it’s all 100% LeBron James but I’m just gonna go off why I went from a fan that watched every game religiously to maybe watching 20 regular season games a year.

And I’m gonna go off all my other sports friends that still watch football that still watch boxing that still watch MMA and still watch baseball.  20 years ago, me and all my coworkers and were construction workers that travel the country for a living, there were seven of us that were die hard NBA fans I’m literally the only one who remotely keeps up with the NBA anymore the reasons from everybody that I knew that watched the NBA for a decade or three decades don’t watch anymore is because straight up they don’t trust the NBA anymore.

The first thing they all say is the NBA will bend over backwards to make LeBron James look good. They can’t stand the way NBA media decided to just shit on every legend and every decade before LeBron.  However, every excuse in the world is made for him when he fails, but then overlooking the super teams/the lack of competition in the east at the time, etc..

2. Position with basketball. When everyone’s just standing at the three-point line it’s not fun anymore. It’s boring. It’s basketball by luck. Yes, a jump shooting team with Steph Curry is going to win championships not because they’re a jump shooting team, but because Steph Curry is probably the best three-point shooter that ever lived if you do not have a Steph Curry it’s not going to work you can accidentally fall into a championship, but you’re not gonna build a dynasty

2.  The game got way too easy to play. The refs barely called travels and carries anymore. Yes star players like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, etc. they always got more calls in their favor than regular players a little bit but now you’re having people that casual fans don’t even know having 50 point games and 60 point games.  The refs not calling those things anymore and the NBA just not playing defense anymore. Nobody knows how good these players are today really because they only played defense during the playoffs and because nobody’s in practice playing defense or against real defense a lot of these games look ugly.

“They should’ve gave us like one or two months heads up if we were going to play defense in the playoffs it’s not fair that we have a whole season of not playing defense and all the sudden you got guys all over you in the playoffs” - this is literally what LeBron James said on his podcast a year ago after the Lakers got beat by the Timberwolves
