The making of a tooled vegetable tanned leather pocket knife slip case. In this video I show the process of how I make this leather pocketknife case from start to finish. From cutting out the leather, tooling the basket weave design, applying dye/finish and saddle stitching the case together. I use 1.8 mm vegetable tanned leather lined with .5 mm pig skin to keep the inside of the case clean and the knife protected. Is there any special secrets besides getting the leather wet when you stamp the leather?

Maybe the tools that I was using just were not that good? I was using stampers that I bought from Hobby Lobby and smacking them at least four times with a rubber mallet on something hard and flat and the pattern pretty much disappeared after I sewed it together
