Great reaction! The Princess Bride is one of those rare movies that knows exactly what it wants to be, doesn't try to be anything else, and nails the execution.

The grandfather telling story is the famous actor Peter Falk.  The reason he appears to be cross eyed is that he has a glass eye.
Best known for playing Columbo on TV in the 70s.  He and Alan Arkin played the leads in The In Laws, one of the funniest movies of that decade.  He often played a funny sidekick.  Nominated for two Oscars.

Billy Crystal as Miracle Max is an all time great bit part appearance. He had Rob Reiner chuckling and laughing so much he couldn't direct the scenes.

Vizzini is such a memorably short, bald, angry shit thanks to the comedy chops of Wallace Shawn, who was a New York playwright that gained screen fame by playing himself having a 2-hour dinner conversation with Andre Gregory. (I'm not even joking. The film is called My Dinner with Andre.) Wallace Shawn got so into character as Vizzini that he had the least amount of fun of anyone on set. He said all the silly things as if it were business as usual managing a band of evil mercenaries.

Fun fact: In the "Miracle Max" scene, the body on the table was a dummy of Carey Elwes. They had to put the dummy there because Elwes kept breaking character on all of Billy Crystal's jokes.

The actor,  Peter Falk, has a glass eye.

Cary and Mandy spent months practicing fencing under an Olympic champion swordsman.  They did their own stunts, and were actually quite good themselves by the time the sword fight was recorded.  It turned out so well the fight scene was extended in length.  It is widely regarded as one of the best sword fights in movie filmdom.

"I'm not a witch, I'm your wife!" is one of the best lines in the movie. Why do so many people not have a reaction to it??

That is Andre THE Giant. He was a very famous wrestler. You should find the documentary on him, I think it was on Netflix or Amazon but I am sure you can find something on Youtube. I won't ruin the surprise but you'll lose your shit when you discover how much beer he would drink in one setting!

One thing that people tend to overlook is the movie is all the boy's imagination of how it looks as grandpa reads him the story.

Again, if you liked this one, you're probably also enjoy Stardust. It's in the same vein, and the cast is stacked.

One of, if not, the greatest love stories ever told. Of a grandfather for his grandson.

The book is wonderful. When my sons were in their early teens we didn't have tv. I used to read to them after dinner. This was one of the books I read. We all loved it.

Suggesting that Buttercup get proactive about Humperdink is something I didn't know I needed in my life.
RIP to all we lost from this movie.
