LES VOIX DE BREZOI 4 – MIHAI RAZVAN MUGESCU BREZOI interview 2026 version US

▶️ Mihai Razvan Mugescu is a key figure in the development of the blues scene in Romania. A concert promoter, cultural manager, and live entertainment entrepreneur, he is best known as the creator and director of the Open Air Blues Festival Brezoi, which has become a major European blues event. Based in Râmnicu Vâlcea, he discovered Western music following the fall of Romania’s communist regime. His passion for rock and blues gradually led him to organize concerts. From 2013 onwards, he developed a significant concert program at the ABY Stage Bar in Râmnicu Vâlcea and built a network of musicians and industry professionals. His career took a new turn when he met Robert Schell, the mayor of Brezoi—a small town in the Lotru Valley, in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains. The two men shared a vision of transforming the town into a cultural and musical destination. In 2017, they launched the Open Air Blues Festival Brezoi. The initial editions were free to attend, helping to gradually build an audience. The festival truly took off in 2019, featuring artists such as Beth Hart, Ana Popović, and Oscar Benton.

▶️ Mihai Răzvan Mugescu was no longer content with merely organizing a festival; he developed a comprehensive cultural and tourism project around Brezoi, notably through the Live Music Summer Camp Brezoi and the #BrezoiulLumii ("Brezoi of the World") concept. Even during the pandemic, the team managed to keep musical activities alive at the venue. Over the years, Brezoi has hosted numerous big names in blues and soul, including Beth Hart, Walter Trout, Eric Gales, Sugaray Rayford and Joanna Connor, to name a few.

▶️ Mihai Răzvan Mugescu’s success stems as much from the international lineup as from the venue's unique character: a small town nestled in the Carpathian Mountains and traversed by the Lotru River, offering a particularly welcoming atmosphere for both artists and audiences. In just a few years, Mihai Răzvan Mugescu transformed this small Romanian town into an international blues destination, making Brezoi a true model of cultural and tourism development driven by music. For the "10th anniversary" edition—scheduled for July 19–25, 2027—the lineup continues to be revealed and is already attracting attention with its enticing roster of artists: Joe Bonamassa, Beth Hart, Jack Broadbent, Henrik Freischlader, Greg Koch & the Koch-Marshall Trio, John Primer & Kenny Neal, Curtis Salgado, Ryan McGarvey, Quinn Sullivan and many others that will be announced over time.,,
