Most visitors drive straight past Winthorpe, Skegness, without realising just how much is happening down by the beach! In this video, I visit the Beachcomber to discover its food, drinks, entertainment and fantastic seaside atmosphere.

The main reason for my visit was to try the traditional fish and chips, freshly cooked in beef dripping using locally sourced produce. I ordered a huge piece of cod with golden, crispy batter and fluffy chips, along with homemade tartare sauce, mushy peas, curry sauce, gravy and beans. Did these fish and chips live up to everything I had been told? You’ll have to watch to find out!

However, the Beachcomber offers far more than fish and chips. During my visit, I discovered:

🏖️ Bouncy castles and slides directly on the beach

There is loads of outdoor seating where you can enjoy your food and drinks while looking straight out across the sand and sea. With entertainment, affordable parking nearby and something for both adults and children, you could easily spend the whole day here.

I also head inside the Beachcomber, meet some of my subscribers, try my luck on the arcade machines and sample a freshly cooked pizza. The venue is run by a lovely, welcoming family who made us feel incredibly welcome throughout our visit.

Whether you are staying at Butlin’s Skegness, one of the nearby caravan parks, or simply visiting the Lincolnshire coast for the day, this could be one of Winthorpe’s best-kept seaside secrets.

Important festival rules
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but they must remain on a lead and owners must clean up after them. As the festival is outdoors on the sand, the organisers recommend suitable footwear, sun protection and a light waterproof layer in case the weather changes.

The Number 1 bus runs from Skegness Bus Station to Butlin’s, which the organisers say is approximately a ten-minute walk from the festival site. There is also a taxi rank directly outside Skegness railway station.

Accessibility

Gigantic provides an online application for a personal-assistant or carer ticket. The application asks for an existing ticket order reference and supporting evidence such as a Blue Badge, PIP letter, Access Card or equivalent documentation.

BEACH LIFE FESTIVAL IS COMING TO SKEGNESS!

This Saturday, 8 August 2026, Beachcomber Beach at Jackson’s Corner will host the very first Beach Life Festival—ten full hours of live ska, reggae, soul, DJs, food, drinks and family entertainment beside the sea!

The incredible line-up includes The Dualers, Si Cranstoun and His Band, Janet Kay MBE, The Marley Experience, Johnny2Bad and Luke Powell, with DJ entertainment from Ska-Man Ade’s Engine 54 Show and Ska n Mash with Pete Lacey.
