It's a FUNKY good time today with Queen and their song 'Dancer' from the Hot Space album. One of us evidently belongs in this era and one does not. You'll have to watch to find out the answer.

I’m from Scotland and I’ve always loved the whole Hot Space album, unlike many Queen fans here in the UK. I’d say Dancer is my favourite track and Brian’s guitar solo is superb. The more times you hear it, the better it gets.

Did you notice that the last spoken line of the song is in German? "Guten Morgen, sie wünschten geweckt zu werden." This was a service in hotels to ensure guests were woken up in good time in the morning after a night of drinking and dancing.

Greetings from Germany

I love this funky track. This album from recording to public reception was a source of contention for the guys but they got through it because they loved each other. Brian and John really weren't seeing eye to eye during the making of Hot Space. In a 1982 interview Brian said that the guitar harmonies part were done in parallel harmonies. They aren't his favorite but he felt they fit the song. He said very few people have done them.

I'm with you Coach, I like this song also. This also proves how good this band is, they can play anything and make it sound great.

Top ten song for me, dance with rock and killer solo

I've been requesting this from reviewers and they always brush the track off. They missed a lot!

I’m with coach. I like this song. Something about it. Not in the pantheon of great Queen songs. Not every song needs to be Bo Rhap though. It’s the variety of songs Queen give you once again. Never boring .

I love this song. I hate that I don't find reactions to this, the algorithm always sends me to Dancing Queen 😅

Written by Brian, not very popular here in the UK, off the album Hot Space. Not a favorite of mine or most Queen fans. Brian had stated he was not in the best place at this time, a little cranky, to which Roger laughed and said " you think" Brian and John were a little on the outs with each other. Oh the boys.. still waiting for "Play the Game" and "Action this Day" both live at Milton Keynes 82.. have a good weekend..

Whether you like the funky Queen or not, the simple fact that they could turn to any genre they wanted shows their musical ability. If you're a Queen fan and still hate this album after 44 years, then why not just audition for the role of Ebeneezer Scrooge in an upcoming A Christmas Carol movie.

I can imagine Brian saying to Freddie and John "if I have to play on a d*mn disco/funk/R'n'B album...you KNOW I'm doing a guitar solo!" 🤣 If Brian and Roger were to rank their Queen Albums in order of preference...I'm gonna guess this one wouldn't be high on the list. It's right up Freddie and John's alley. Freddie was into the club scene at this time and I've heard that this has always been Johns favourite type of music anyway. I don't mind it, it's not my favourite, but I refuse to diss any Queen album...I have too much respect for them as singers and musicians. JMO of course! :-)

When I was 14 years old ( now I, m 55) the first Queen album I bought was The Works , I loved that album , and the second I bought was Hot Space album . I liked it a lot ( but I realised that it was very different to The Works) because before Queen , when I was 12 years old , I was into Michael Jackson Thriller crazy mega hit thing . After that , thru a year time , I bought all Queen albums one by one and I discovered the 70,s Queen and their hard rock and progressive rock era. Then I realised that Hot Space wasn, t as good as I thought in a first time . The album I liked most was Queen II ( and today it is still my favorite ) .
