I PAINTED MY VW TRANSPORTER THEN INSTANTLY REGRETTED IT! I ditched white for purple on my 2010 T5.1 to T6.1 facelift build - roof, bonnet, bumper & full quarter-panel prep.
I changed my mind on the colour halfway through this VW Transporter restoration. White was clean and fresh, but for a raffle van it needed to be fruity — so it's going purple.
In this episode you’ll see:
• Sanding down the freshly-painted white roof to go purple
• Driver’s side quarter-panel repair, dents, stone chips & rust in the door shut
• Trying a cheap AliExpress sand blaster + wire wheel to kill rust properly
• Q-Rust treatment, etch primer, filler & high-build primer
• My blade trick for small dents without digging a moat around the filler
• Blocking with 240 / 320, chasing pinholes in primer so they don’t sink later
• Painted bonnet, wings, gloss black + purple bumper & splitter with my new spray gun (plus a run I had to save!)
• Moving fresh panels to the workshop & prepping the OG Transporter front end for paint
