The Cruel Life of Prostitutes in Havana, Cuba 🇨🇺

Cuban men and women working on the street has surged as a survival strategy amid the island’s deepening economic collapse, largely driven by decades of communist rule. With limited job opportunities and low wages under state control, many Cubans—especially women—turn to this work to support themselves and their families. The fall of Soviet support in the 1990s and ongoing U.S. sanctions have worsened the crisis, exposing the failures of Cuba’s centralized economy. Despite government crackdowns, prostitution remains widespread, often linked to tourism. Cuba's situation highlights how prolonged communist policies can contribute to systemic poverty, desperation, and the rise of informal, often exploitative, economic activities.

Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 Youtube videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

For those of you concerned about the privacy of the ladies, 1) one of the girls isn’t even in habana Cuba anymore and 2) another one no longer does this type of work. Also, if you search “jineteras en Cuba” you’ll see multiple videos of Spanish speaking YouTubers doing a similar style video showing their faces and everything else. These ladies are safe, and Cuba has much more serious problems right now that chasing ladies just trying to put food on the table. Thanks for watching!

What was heartbreaking to me was hearing a girl saying/admitting that she prostitutes herself not to survive, but to aquire ridiculous/overpriced branded goods, which arent going to really make her happy.....and i think deep down she knows that.

As a Cuban that left as a young boy my heart breaks for the 2nd lady, thank you for properly compensating her for opening her pain to all of us!

First girl dreams of fashion and glitter… even if she gained big money it would be gone in a short while.
Got to have a mindset to gain substainable wealth. Her priorities wrong!

As a Cuban I want to thank you Elliot for reporting on the real life in Cuba. You’re doing the job that the MSM is refusing to do. The MSM is too focus on dividing and destroying our society.

I'm totally sad to hear these people think $0.10 manufactured Prada bag is luxury. People should value freedom more.

Buying unnecessary expensive objects is not going to let her build up money very quickly. She has not realized that she probably won't ever leave the lifestyle alive. It's sad

Omg the second lady was so honest and the things she said made me really sad cause i lived that period in Cuba during the 90's and lots of my friends did that to survive

These are remarkable videos. Thank you for highlighting these women. The second one broke my heart. In fact, Cuba breaks my heart.

I felt very little compassion for the first girl, but the second was inspirational.....wonderful woman.

Great interviews, I like that, as a young man you are interested in the people you talk to. As a father of two adult daughters around your age, my heart would break in a million pieces to know my daughters have gone through this. Its a practical thing to do to get ahead in those survival situation, but the price is far to heavy. Soul sucking. The last woman was very smart and very insightful.

Elliot, I think you’ve once again delivered a courageous and important exposé about the realities of life in Cuba — this time shedding light on the painful and complex issue of rampant prostitution, and the young women known as jineteras. The suffering, the corrupt government, the cruel economics, and the desperation of the youth in Cuba are things the world rarely sees or understands due to decades of carefully curated propaganda repeated by mainstream media.
Although I’m personally not a fan of the AI-generated images used in this video, I want to focus instead on what truly stood out: your exceptional interviewing skills. The way you allowed the two women to speak openly, without judgment or sensationalism, gave the piece a rare human depth. Those criticizing the AI elements should understand that you are essentially a one-man operation, working with limited resources — yet you're capturing and sharing stories that major networks with massive budgets continue to ignore.
