I once counted how many levers and knobs are on a Bridgeport for a class I used to give, now I can't remember how many it was, LOL. 11? 17? I dunno. It was not counting adjusting nuts. But if you take people through the basic principles of the machine, and explain each knob and lever _in_context_, most people will take it all in and retain it with a minimum of repetition.
You did such a great job explaining things, I'm very impressed, I've been considering a.Chinese model , but have been thinking about a Bridgeport lately,. Yo did a great job dispelling spot of my concerns.thank you .
Just a question for the speed changing handle I put the speed to 600 and I reverse the handle to got to 4000 right so I can be clockwise and anti clockwise as long as i don't go to far? Not 1 way all the time the chain will seize* up in the middle
Can you tell me an effective way to set a z height for repeatability to within a thou, preferably without a dial indicator. I can hit bang on .001 usually w side milling but hardly ever with top milling. I heard setting against bottom flat working holding and backing off isn't accurate, going be the knee dial, and now I want to use gauge blocks or even 2 parallels to get a .250 thickness part.. exactly, but I would have to still set the tool and I don't know what the quill stop does when actually cutting I don't think they are that solid so if I still set without pressure so I don't chip the damn tool, I still risk the tool being too deep once it cuts and everything relaxes so it need to test and see if near a certain spot on the knee doing this will give me my target preferably minus a constant
