My favorite part in the book is when you find out hermione has been using a time turner to get to all her classes

Revisiting this after the reunion special on HBO Max. Man, it's so amazing that this happened. A franchise that was successful but still early on, hiring a filmmaker who had several films under his belt and not just one micro budget indie feature. Dude comes in, puts a huge stylistic flair on the film, uses unconventional camerawork, realistic costuming, and sets the tone for the rest of the franchise then dips. Absolute chad filmmaking.

Excellent video! Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite Harry Potter film and Alfonso Cuaron is an amazing filmmaker :D

Basically Cuarón doesn't rely on hollywod typical FX and cookie cutter bullshit to make movies magical.

I saw PoA when I was 9 as well. Opening night, IMAX... it was the best cinematic experience I’ve had.

My opinion of the previous Harry Potter films (and probably all of them aside from Azkaban) was that it is a charming fairy-tale, for kids. The Prisoner of Azkaban, however, reached a different opinion entirely - it is a very good movie. Even outside of the context of the entire series, I dare say it can exist on it's own and still be entirely effective as a stand-alone film. Sits along-side Shrek, and The Secret of Nihm, as one of the best "kid's movies" of all time.

Fun fact: del Toro is the one who convinced Cuarón to actually take the project. The latter was going to pass on it due to the same reasons Toro claimed, as well as it being a franchise.

Fastest subscribe. Best of luck and success to the new endeavor, Loverboy. I'm sure you'll be "working for the weekend".

We have massive bragging rights, we can call ourselves the special 1000, that were the first to be subscribed to the biggest film channel on YouTube, in a couple years, mark my words.

This is very easily the best film in the series for me. As an aspiring filmmaker myself, this movie is a great inspiration for me

Was always my favourite Harry Potter movie

Second fave just after HBP. But Cuaron’s vision is incredible

I was 21 when this movie was released. I feel so old now.

Cuaron had worked with kids before PoA. He directed an adaptation of A Little Princess, which I was obsessed with as a kid. So he wasn't that much of a risky choice.

Most of the changes that were made actually improved on how things went down in the book. I wish he'd been able to direct the rest of the films.

It’s so funny that you transitioned into a Harry Potter obsession after being obsessed with dinosaurs because that’s exactly what happened to me, too!

PoA has always been my most favorite HP movie (and book) and it is actually what got me into liking Cuarón as much as I do. It’s a mix between the cinematography and music...Window to the Past fills me with such nostalgia 😭

I also remember how my parents thought I was too young to watch the film at cinema. I was 9 and I remember how jalous I was of my best friend because she had seen it at the cinema. Then, nearly a year later, my aunt gave me the DVD for Christmas and I was so obsessed with it back then. It still of the best childhood memory I have related to a film. I think I'll even rewatch it this weekend. Great analysis btw ! 😁
