The pace of development in Varanasi is now clearly visible on the roads as well. The six-lane road being developed from Lahartara to Mohansarai is one of the main entry points to Kashi and is being seen as a key project to improve the city's connectivity.
The project envisages six-laning approximately 10–11 kilometers of the road from Mohansarai to the Lahartara/Bauliya area. The official project document mentions widening the approximately 11.18 km stretch of the Mohansarai–Dindayal Upadhyay Nagar Chakia road to six lanes.
The aim is to modernize the entire corridor with improved street lighting, dividers, greenery, pedestrian facilities, and traffic management. This is expected to help ease traffic flow between Mohansarai and the city and reduce congestion.
