Hello!

Today I’ll explain an important okizeme technique: delayed throw.

Have you ever lost to mashing or throw tech and thought,
“Why isn’t this working?”

I used to struggle with this too,
but once I learned delayed throw,
my okizeme became much more stable.

It’s not hard — but not knowing it will cost you games.
Learning it will help you win more.

⸻

A delayed throw means
slightly delaying your throw after frame advantage.

You simply block for a moment on wake-up, then throw.

Why do this?

Because it covers multiple options:
• Mashing
• Reversals
• Blocking
• Backdash
• Delayed tech

You block mashing and reversals,
throw blocking,
and tech delayed throws.

It loses to:
• Neutral jump
• Slow buttons

⸻

If your opponent mainly does:
• Block
• Throw tech
• Reversal

Then this becomes a very stable option
with almost no risk.

Especially in short ranked sets,
people rarely take the big risks needed to beat it.

⸻

When should you use it?

When you can’t shimmy,
like close-range pressure.

Shimmy is stronger when possible,
but there are many situations where it doesn’t work.

For example, after Drive Rush pressure,
shimmy loses to throw mash.

Backdash loses to reversals.

In these cases,
delayed throw is the best option.

⸻

It’s also very strong in the corner.

In mid-screen, backdash can punish you,
but in the corner you can catch it and keep pressure.

Also, against passive defense:

Shimmy resets neutral,
but delayed throw keeps your offense going.

This is a huge advantage.

⸻

Practice method:
• Set dummy to Guard All
• Record wake-up options:
mash, throw, backdash, reversal, nothing

Then:

Block briefly → throw.

If done right:
• You block mash/reversal
• Tech throws
• Beat backdash

One tip:
return to neutral before throwing,
or you might get side switch.

⸻

That’s delayed throw.

It’s a stable option that improves your okizeme
and helps you beat mashing and reversals.

Try using it once in your next ranked match —
you’ll feel the difference.
