We spent a few days in Jayaque, a municipality in La Libertad, El Salvador, where we were hosted by someone from the Central American cycling travel network. We happened to be there during the patron saint festivities, so we had the opportunity to witness the Cumpas gathering and the fireworks display. These two activities are part of the culture and traditions of this pre-Hispanic town. We also enjoyed nature, tried a delicious chuco (a type of corn porridge), pan compuesto (a type of bread), and traditional pupusas (a type of pupusa). We also visited a restaurant and tried Chaparro, an ancestral beverage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this indigenous town, rich in culture and tradition.
