Oviedo boasts some of the most legendary bars and dishes in Asturias… and today we're taking a tour through the city center, sampling everything from historic sweets to some of the city's most famous tapas.

We begin our tour at two of Oviedo's most classic pastry shops: first, we try the famous carbayones from Camilo de Blas, and then the legendary moscovitas from Confitería Rialto—two must-try sweets if you're visiting Asturias.

Then the tapas begin.

We head to La Paloma, a historic vermouth bar open since 1900, to try their famous battered prawns paired with a classic vermouth.

Next, we stop at Bar Montoto, where we sample their famous preñaos (stuffed bread rolls), one of the great discoveries of the tour and one of my favorite bars in Oviedo.

The next stop is El Ovetense, known for one of the city's most iconic dishes: their enormous garlic chicken.

And we finished at La Belmontina, a classic spot next to Oviedo Cathedral, where we tried one of the most famous fabadas (Asturian bean stews).
