Ackee and saltfish is the Jamaican national dish. It has never killed any Jamaican because every Jamaican knows how and when to prepare it. By the time it reaches outside of Jamaica, whether tinned or otherwise, it has already been carefully processed. The tinned Ackee is cooked and ready to be added to the prepared saltfish to make delicious ‘Ackee and saltfish’ which is the Jamaican national dish.

Oh i forgot The Legendary Harry Belafonte  Calypso singer. He was a very good actor also.

Florida is full of ackee trees I picked some today off my tree but as you say the ones in the tin is also available

Lol guys once the fish is fried “dried” as chef says, when u chew the bone its so crispy it breaks down with the meat of the fish. Theres no bones to get caught in your throat . Thanks for the love 🇯🇲🫶🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸

Tinned ackee has already been opened and is not poisonous....try it

Jamaican don't really eat the fish bone but they fried the the fish dry so the bone dont juck you when eating it

You can cook ackee because the ones you are going to get the states is in the can already

Let me help you guys out. You won't get raw ackee in the US. But you will get ackee in the tin. But it will be pricey.
In the tin the ackee is already cooked. So when you open a tin, empty it into a strainer and briefly run it under water. From there you can do your thing. It also goes well with corn pork (salted pork).
To fix the corn pork, first you must boil it. To remove some of the salt. Then chop up the pork into bite size. Cut up your seasonings (onion, tomato, thyme, scotch bonnet pepper,  scallions (green onions). Fry up the pork. When the pork start to change colour, add the seasonings. Let both cook while stiring. After about 2 minutes add the ackee with black pepper, the gentle fold over everything in the pot. Ackee is very delicate. Cover turn down the heat to about mid for 2 minutes. Remove and enjoy.
With the salted cod. Same process of boiling to remove most of the salt. Pull the cod into small pieces and follow pork process.
For you best to use the package salted cod. It's already deboned and cleaned.
