I was born and raised in Anadarko and work at the oldest federally operated Native residential school in the US about a mile north of town. At one time we had Indian City, Hollytex, the Peanut Mill, and numerous businesses that kept our economy going. Now it is the top 5 dangerous cities in the state and this town offers nothing to our youth, creating a social climate that is primed for drugs, alcohol, and crime. Anadarko is "The Indian Capitol of the Nation" and hopefully someday our local tribes and city leaders can get together and somehow capitalize off of this.
(FYI: A huge majority of Natives have no problem with "the offensive" sports mascot names such as Redskin. It's the non-Natives that do the gaslighting and the herd mentality does the rest. We love our theater and has a significant history in our town.)

When I was a kid in the early 90's we briefly lived in Anadarko.  Our cars were keyed.  Our tires were slashed.  Our church was vandalized and robbed.  We got out of there after only like six months

The thing that caught my attention in Anadarko was that despite the number of derelict properties, there aren’t piles of garbage and junk anywhere. That reinforces my belief that there is not a direct correlation between trash and poverty. Some of the most poverty-stricken people still have pride whilst many a rich person’s home is a pigsty.

We live here, my husband was born here, go down by Randlett park. I do agree that Anadarko needs to be cleaned up and refurbished, some of us are trying.

The Liberty theater (Carnegie) is known regionally for their concession stand treats.  They are said to have the best hot dogs in the state.   People actually go there to eat.   All of these towns are known as "Indian" towns. Anadarko has five or six tribal HQs.  Carnegie is home to the Kiowa tribe.   You mentioned Ft. Cobb's Indian history.

I appreciate your work on showing  the rural poverty in our nation. It is often forgotten and overlooked. imo there is much more of it than the urban poverty politicians and news outlets cover . Also as someone from OK i appreciate your correct pronunciations of our towns/ cities. Some of them have interesting names that are often horribly butchered by most Youtubers . Anadarko was once the site of the Indian City USA museum which was an outdoor exhibit. They also had a dog race track , parade and carnival every year to celebrate the Indian Expo. Our band in high school played there in the 80's . Being of Indian descent we were happy to have gotten to see it .

I was in Anadarko when I was kid. There used to be a small Indian village. Kind of like a living history presentation.

I really love that you go out and visit other places in Oklahoma because I can’t afford the gasoline to do it and we’ve lived here over 25 years and a lot of these places I’ve ever seen so thank you for going out and doing this for all of us would be a beautiful show❤️

Schools get split up in to different towns, with an existing school building used for elementary and another school building in another town might be junior high.

For an old house, a good roof is everything. As long as the roof keeps moisture out, that house can stand for a long time, but once that roof fails, it's just a matter of time. Water is the killer of anything man made. It's the diffrence in structures that can be saved and those that can't.

Those old houses are probably coated in multiple layers of lead paint. Can't be torn down or worked on at any reasonable price. So they just sit till someone sets on on fire.

The white house in Carnegie Oklahoma in your video at 26:43 minutes was my Great Grandparents house. The pathway to the vacant lot was where my other Great Grandparents house was but has been torn down. Both houses were built by my grandfather. Thank you for your video. My father was born in Fort Cobb. I haven't  been back there in 40 years.
