I want to take a moment, a genuine and heartfelt moment, to address something that has been quietly eroding my dignity. The intro. We have to talk about the intro. Because in the intro, my likeness was rendered, by hand, with intention at a circumference that bears no resemblance to my real, true, and frankly quite trim proportions.

I did not approve this body. I did not commission this body. Someone sat down, opened their drawing software, looked at the reference of my actual silhouette, and made a CHOICE. They looked at me, a man of perfectly average and arguably above-average proportions, and they decided: wider. They made me wider. With their own hand. On purpose. And then they animated it, gave it bounce, gave it physics, and placed it at the very FRONT of the video where it is the first thing every single viewer sees before I have a chance to defend myself.

Do you understand the artistic discipline it takes to draw a man fat that deliberately? The reference was right there. The proportions were available. They had every opportunity to render me accurately, slender, dignified, even flattering, and instead they reached for the wide brush. The commitment to the bit. The hours of effort funneled directly into making my cartoon self take up more horizontal space than is geometrically necessary. If even a fraction of that energy had gone into drawing me as I actually am, we would not be here. But we are here. I am here. Wider than I have ever been in real life, immortalized in an intro, for the world.

I’m not mad. I want that on record. This is the composed, level-headed statement of a man fully at peace, who has absolutely not paused on the intro frame several times to confirm just how wide they went. They went wide. Anyway. Wonderful collab. Go subscribe to him, I suppose.
