imagine the ghost leviathans would stop chasing you because they are scared of something

The reason why the void biome is not consistent throughout the void itself is the fact that some biomes overlay due to a feature known as the “terminator mesh”.

This is also why the water changes its color in certain places and ghost leviathans cease to spawn. Keep in mind that sometimes these terminators may glitch and break your savefile, as the game uses those areas to store data related to the playable map (The Crater).

0:18 Ghost Leviathans don’t want to eat you. You’re just in their territory. And they don’t like visitors.

I feel like it’s a blessing that you don’t see what lies beyond. Being that far out gives me a feeling of exestential dread I can’t explain.

Y'ever read that story about the sailors who get lost at sea, and come across a small island with a cave? Tons of stalactites and stalagmites at the entrance of the cave, trees growing along the top of the island... Really a surreal place. Like a cartoon cave. But one of the sailors just says it doesn't feel right. The others laugh at him, and they live on the top of the island and they sleep for the night while the last one remains in the boat. Overnight, the island shakes and the cave seems to collapse as the entrance closes.

And that's when the sailor sees- it's no cave. It's a mouth. The island is no island at all- it's a massive creature with a biome on its' back.

I dunno- I've always seen the playable area in Subnautica as something like this. I think it's an interesting idea. I can't quite remember the name of the story or the details. If anyone else does, please let me know.

My knowledge about real oceans : 😐

My knowledge about Subnatica's ocean : 🗿🗿🍷🍷

imagine if there were a secret base at the end of the void

God, I always forget just how incredible the fish designs are in this game. I literally can’t think of a more fitting and terrifying design for the ghost leviathan. The partial transparency also adds a sense of mystery that really drives home the idea of a completely alien planet very far from earth.

There are these deep rumbles and booms in certain parts of the void which are test sounds and biome ambience but I always like to think it's deep deep underwater volcanoes and magma rifts. The area we play on is a volcano after all, so it's logical to think that there are smaller volcanos surrounding it for miles.

No matter how many times I see the void in Subnutica, it terrifies me every time. A void with nothing but enormous beasts. But it's always nice to see Bacon find content in Subnutica, even after all these years. I'm already afraid of what will happen in Subnutica 2 😅

I did that in my seamoth, and the seamoth is so fast that I just drove past the ghost leviathan spawns. So that, kids, is how I got the databank entry without dying.

I've never been to look straight down underwater after experiencing the void in Subnautica💔💔

4:58 yeah I’m not too sure either. Weird 🤔

4-5 years of watching your videos, and yet i don't get bored. you are BY FAR, the best subnautica youtuber ever. love your videos <3

Imagine if you swim so far the ghost leviathans stop chasing you you see nothing below you no light, no creatures, no nothing you keep swimming then you get swallowed by a gargantuan:)

This make the 15 missing lifepod theory more creepy. Imagine if they were dropped at the far end 😮

Imagine doing this with the return of the ancients mod

I actually got out past the void where the ghost leviathans spawn in my first playthrough of the game by accident.
The Sunbeam was about to land on the mountain island, so I went to check it out. I had a few minutes before the Sunbeam timer was done, so I was exploring the water around the island. I found one of the warpers in the water around there and scanned it, but while I was in the animation for getting in my Seamoth the warper hit me with the attack that teleports you, which somehow one shot me. Instead of respawning in my base or escape pod, I respawned 100 meters in the air, and the markers for the escape pod was about 5500 meters away, and my Seamoth was 4000 meters away.

9:50 this moment is incredibly terrifying just seeing that blue water with nothing around and nothing below just gives me chills and makes me so terrified. Imagine if the gargantuan appeared out there. Would be very scary!

Fun fact: in the og subnautica, fins don't increase your speed while using the seaglide, so it is always best to use the swim charge fins instead. In below zero however, the speed does stack.
