Hi Paulo I feel for you, having tried to get nice pictures of Leopards in Kenya, Tanzania and Sri Lanka over several years and only managing distant record shots my Wife and I visited Wilpattu a couple of years ago and it didn't disappoint, we were lucky enough to enjoy several excellent sightings and I managed to get a few images I was really happy with. Wilpattu also was great for birds of Prey where they don't seem afraid of the vehicles allowing for really close encounters. It's as you said in your video we have to keep trying, and success will follow! Love your videos keep up the good work!

We've all been there Paolo!! In wildlife photography there are no guarantees!! Roll with the punches and enjoy the walk!

❤ from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

I am so sorry.  This happens.  Scouts used to tell me, "It is why we call it hunting, not killing", although of course, with a camera we are playing a different, more acceptable, game.  But the rules are the same.  As I know you understand, part of the joy of this pursuit is the randomness of it, the sheer chance of what will you get today?  I wish you the best in your next outing and know you will get some great shots.  Tomorrow.  Or the next day.  Or the next ... As Churchill said, when you are going through hell.  Don't stop.

Hi Paolo, I feel better now 😂. You are doing good, keep it up!!!

Safaris are very expensive especially considering flights into Africa. If you watch Wildearth “ Safari Live “ you will see first hand sightings in a three hour drive can be hit and miss at best. Lately they have added “ replays “and pre recorded “ virtual “ safaris just to fill the space of no sightings. Also the guides now repeatedly show trees, plants, bones, poop and dead animals while they talk on and on about other things to try and make it somewhat interesting.

Thank you for such an honest video! Its very encouraging to hear even you have bad days....sometimes 3! I hope you have 3 amazing days to balance it out.

My friend, first of all, I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

We spend a lot of time photographing wildlife across Sri Lanka, and we still have two Wilpattu tour videos to release. Wildlife sightings here are very different from Africa. Your luck depends on many factors, including the moon phase, weather, wind, heat, and the experience of your driver and game ranger.

Wilpattu is one of Sri Lanka's most beautiful national parks and is definitely worth another visit.

Just 10 days ago, foreign visitors saw three leopards only 10 minutes after entering Yala at 6:10 a.m., while others left without seeing any. Even we sometimes spend a whole day without a leopard, but the next day we may see nine.

If you visit again, try to avoid full moon and rainy days, and be inside the park during the golden hours: 6:00–7:30 a.m. and 5:00–6:00 p.m. Visitors staying outside the park often miss these best wildlife hours.

I hope you'll give Wilpattu another chance. With the right timing and a little luck, it can be an unforgettable experience.

It happens to all of us. I've been on safari and had nothing significant for a few days, so of course I'm disappointed. Is it me? Why am I here? Patience is essential, and the images will come. If you don't get out, you will 100% never capture anything. Keep on truckin'. You only need a few good images to have a successful trip. The rest of the time ... put the camera away and enjoy being there. 😀
